I think Callas is one of the most amazing women. There are quite a number of YouTube videos of her live performances, and lots of homage videos using stills and live recordings. Here is "Habanera" from Bizet's Carmen (oh those flashing eyes!)
Over ten minutes from Act II from Puccini's Tosca at Covent Garden in 1964, with Tito Gobbi.
Vienna 1956 and in La Traviata, Royal Operahouse in Covent Garden, 1958.

Callas’s jewels in Japan - Swarovski jewellery on exhibit
“Maria Callas & Swarovski, Jewels on Stage”, the exhibition of stage jewellery worn by one of opera’s most famous divas, is travelling to Japan in 2007. Some 50 pieces of this unique collection will be shown at the Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Department Store in Tokyo from May 1-13, 2007, before going to the prestigious Hakone Glass Forest Museum near Yokohama from May 19 to August 31, 2007.
The legendary soprano turned to Swarovski for performance jewellery throughout her career. The Milanese atelier Marangoni created the stage jewellery set with Swarovski crystals for Callas from 1947 until 1965. Ennio Marangoni and his son Antonio, in close collaboration with Callas herself, designed all of the pieces. These jewellery pieces will be displayed alongside archival photos and other Callas memorabilia.
The exhibition has already been seen by more than 4 million visitors in some of the world’s most important opera houses and museums in Monte Carlo, Florence, Prague, Buenos Aires and New York.
here's a true story about Maria. During WWII, she & her mother lived in Greece which was occupied by the Germans. She was studying Opera there. One day she found a few RAF flyers & offered safe harbor in her basement. A bunch of Italians were searching for them. As they started to look for the errant pilots, Maria dashed over to the piano & started to sing "La Traviata". All the Italian fellows stopped dead in their tracks, sat down on the living room floor, absolutely enthralled. Her mother later recalled it was the best she ever sang & that Maria was singing to save our lives. The soldiers never looked any further & only left after she stopped singing. The British soldiers never were caught & made their way home. The Germans never knew about her resistance efforts.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER!!!!!! For me Callas is the impersonation of class!
I strongly believe that they should post her picture next to the word 'diva' in the dictionaries!
