The draw for the Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open*in Madrid, Spain has been released and Maria is seeded #11 and will play Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic in the 1st round.* Maria has never played Safarova before.*

If Maria wins that match she will play either Olga Govortsova of Belarus or a qualifier in the 2nd round.* The 1st seed Maria can meet is #6 seed Elena Dementieva of Russia in the 3rd round.

Madrid will be Maria's first tournament of the red clay season this year and this will be her first appearance at the premier mandatory event.

I just landed in Strasbourg, we had a really good week of practice at an academy in Spain. I am working hard on getting healthy, it has been a very frustrating 6 weeks but things are getting better.

The draw for the Internationaux de Strasbourg in Strasbourg, France has been released and Maria is the top seed and will play Regina Kulikova of Russia in the 1st round.* Maria has never played Kulikova before and this match will be played on Monday or Tuesday.

The 1st seed Maria can meet is #6 seed Sybille Bammer of Austria in the quarters.

Maria is making her debut appearance in Strasbourg and this is Maria's final clay event before the 2nd Grand Slam of the year at Roland Garros which begins next Sunday.

Maria has won her 2nd title of 2010 and her 22nd title at the Internationaux de Strasbourg in Strasbourg, France.* Maria defeated Kristina Barrois of Germany 7-5 6-1 in 1 hour and 15 minutes.* Congratulations Maria!

Barrois was serving for the 1st set at 5-4 and Maria battled back by taking the next 3 games to take the set 7-5.* Maria won the set on a ripping backhand return winner.* The set took 47 minutes.

Maria carried the momentum from winning the1st set into the 2nd set as she dropped only 1 game as she took the match on a short backhand winner.

Yay Maria started her RG campain beautifully by defeating fellow Russian Ksenia Pervak 6-2 6-3 I hope Maria goes as far as in the tournament. I'm her life to death fan. IMO not her best outfit.
