Nicolas Ghesquière - Designer, Creative Director of Louis Vuitton

When he was at Balenciaga, his clothes looked futurist (even if the roots for it were in 70s-80s past visions of the future...but it wasn´t literally retro-looking, he always found the way of making it look modern and fresh) .

But now at LV is literally retro-futurism. And it´s looking as stale as a Pierre Cardin collection, which is a really big problem because modernity and freshness are nowhere to be found.
Every time i land in Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, it reminds me of current NG LV, impractical outdated space age ala Cardin.
I think even most of modern french designers suffer from this cartoonish stiff cardboard idea of what modern is , NG , Nadege at hermes , Pierre Hardy
all stiff naive old modern with visual details with no function just like the airport CDG.

future nostaligia decay.webpthe sky is more modern .webptunnel to no where.webp

Bro has turned into a pop designer, same type as Pharrell, 2 sides of the same coin (both have the most contrived bows of fashion week). He loves LA and his boyfriend so much and I guess he spends most of his time min-maxing some random video games or watching French/American political news instead of actually designing clothes. Tbh I think he’s got a more interesting set of hobbies than most other designers (unlike Raf’s gang) — more like someone who can genuinely be honest about all his interests, from the very geeky and peasant to the more intellectual. I saw him and Dossena following a Dragon Ball account and I remember Julien Dossena posting a story about Attack on Titan lol. That lil Nico guy doesn’t just mimic his godfather’s designs but even copies his interests.

I genuinely think that Julien is not copying Nicolas. They were boyfriends and it is only normal that their personalities and interests mingled in a very natural way.

It is common for couples to become like each other. Sometimes it even happens that one of them speaks saying "We..." instead of "I..."

Maybe Julien brought to Nicolas things that we don't know because the spotlight was always on Nicolas.

It´s a miracle he hasn´t still shown a collection there!

Yes he bought it years ago. It had an article on Paris-Match.
I remember watching Selling Sunset (don’t blame me I find it silly and funny) and they featured this house as quite difficult to sell.

The irony when I read the PM article and discovered that NG bought it. Only him lol.

I love the architecture of the house, wish we could see a bit more of the interior and how it is furnished - I really didn't like what we could see of his Paris apartment when it was once featured in an article!

It's really very much a house that fits the idea of him, or at least the vibe of his Balenciaga.

Not a fan of John Lautner but cool space indeed. LA weather/atmosphere really elevates this house and Nicolas’s nowadays appearance.

I might be the only one, but I was more interested in their love story than in the architecture 🤭

I was : mmmm, ok, so they met for the first time in 2020 🤣

Loved the bit with the two Cassavettes and Ken Russell film posters, and their favorite music.

They look happy together!
