the same thing that they said they "do" to joan -_-
but no one really does know for sure, unless they were at the place when that happen.
n to be honest i dont see anything wrong with it,is pure marketing! i dont know why is such a big deal!

Joan and liya are the only black girls at Img working blue chip wise. If its racial why don't they do the same for the others. Something is not adding up here but hey modeling is shady business, next modeling agency already proved that. I though Img were the most legit of all the other agencies.

I wasn't trying to say that it was racially based, I meant that **if that rumor is even true that IMG does this** that it can't be much different from what they do for other girls that are at IMG.

but sheesh, I generally avoid this thread at all costs so I'm just going to leave it at that
I just really don't like misinformation, especially when other people regard it as fact
I was not implying that, in fact I was referring to you in the sentence, "and like someone else said, my guess is that this has probably happened with other models."

What do they do for other girls at Img. Just pm me if you don't want to post it here.
I don't know the answer but my guess is that if there is a model and the agency thinks she has the potential to be a star or moneymaker, they are basically doing it to give her visibility and experience / build her resume. I would not be surprised if some designers who may need to cast 20, 30, 40 models and upward don't see it as a negative rather it is just one or two fewer models that they don't have to cast. My guess is that it probably involves more than one girl, so that the designers can have choices to suit their tastes, and there may also be a financial incentive, for example she is thrown in as a bonus or at a discount since they are booking one of their more expensive stars, sorta the high fashion version of spending over a certain amount on perfume or make up and then getting a free bag / gift bag thrown in.

I honestly cannot believe the rumors that are starting up with Joan right now. Do you think its possible for for her to be the favorite black model ATM and not some crazy conspiracy theory? Joan has it all- body, skin, cheekbones, and pure beauty. Why in the world would IMG pay MDC to put Joan at #4 when Lara is at #1 and Freja is at #2(and problaby next to be #1)? Designers like Joan because they just do.

Can someone explain to me why the hell Caroline is back?

they moved abck Trentino to the rankings just by scoring a solo ed for US Vogue awhile Lily Donaldson they did not return her to the ranking ?

Lily has Magazine Covers Camapigns for Hugo Boss, Aldo and Calvin Klein for F/W 11 !!!

What do you guys think about Iris Strubegger remaining in the top 10? I personally think her time is up, and Karmen should be #10 instead of her.

Conditions for booking top talent aren't neccesarily only about money, good bookers offer editors and casting agents informal purchase commitments, so booking a top talent may for some industry creatives only be possible in conjunction with one or two new faces that the top talent's booker suggests. Really every big agency follows this policy and I don't see the problem. As for Smalls, I don't know how IMG handled it, I guess she was just rather suggested to designers than other IMG girls (and well... with good reason). This also is a reason why the not-so-much-buzzed agencies struggle to book their girls good shows, their model inventory does simply not include top girls relevant enough to offer such booking conditions....

ETA: Strubegger's time isn't off, she has been busy with her relocation and took some weeks off as far as I know therefore the lack of publications recently.

Not to get all Whitney Houston I want to see the receipts, but no one at Models.com gets any money if Joan moves up or down. I've commented before on the amount of unsubstantiated conspiracy theory rife in this thread, but this is starting to get ridiculous and pointedly accusatory. If you want to talk about things getting out of control I would say that accusing two companies of committing what amounts to fraud could be considered out of control. I mean honestly, if you could buy a ranking on the site Donald Trump would come in and buy the #1 slot for Melania and I would be typing this message from my new home in Grand Cayman.

Unless you can explain with objective evidence why and in what world Joan deserves to be #4 at this very moment, there's no need to act insulted when someone raises a valid point. And my point is valid. In her couple of years of prolific modeling, Joan has not had a single cover. She does appear regularly in Vogue US, but that's it as far as her editorial work goes. She does well runway wise, but not the opening/closing star that Jac or even Arizona or Daphne are. She's had campaigns for Gucci and Givenchy, that's major, I'll give you that. And she's got Estee contract, another major. That warrants Top 10, not #4.

Looking at it all from a distance, it's quite strange. Either IMG had a say (if not pay) in her placement or there's affirmative action in play.

Joan vs. Jac

According to Jac's MDC profile, she hasn't had any editorial work since March. Joan & Jac's campaigns have been at the same level recently, but Joan has a slight edge with her international Estee commercial, IMO. Joan is also a favorite of American Vogue as well as W. As far as affirmative action is concerned, I believe it should be used in modelling just like the rest of the work force. Some editors won't put a black model on a cover even once a year. Look at the last time Italian Vogue put a black model on their cover. What about French Vogue? Rose Cordero's cover was over a year ago, and look where she is now. Considering the fashion industry's track record with their usage of black models, Joan has been the most successful black model since Liya. She should be at #4 because she does not get the same oppurtunities as white models, yet still manages to book memorable editorials & campaigns.

i like Strubegger but she should be out of top 10 considering her works. maybe she should consider to drop out of modeling again and come back later like what she did last time.

She had only Muse cover recently, Aldo isn't major brand and in both cases in Hugo Boss & Calvin Klein, she isn't mainline ads.

I think Iris shouldn't be in Top 10, if there is not some upcoming major work.

And agree with Luxx, what's all the talk about changing #1? Lara is still here, she's working and always gets major eds, covers, campaign(s). I don't think she should be changed or moved in icon's list anytime soon.
