MDC (Models.com) Rankings

i think that Arizona is being a little overrated, she's got many campaigns in the last few seasons but the really big ones are only Prada and YSL, maybe Chloé.. Joan's big campaigns are Gucci (twice), Givenchy, Cavalli, and EL and Chanel that are really major especially for a black latina!
Arizona's no. 7 is right because all her work has taken her that high and i think now we should only consider her S/S 12 campaigns and her more recent print work to think in moving her up, also the top 5 have more quality work than her and Liu Wen and Constance have the EL contract so her spot is ok imo

about Karlie moving up.. that's a big sign, they seem to be setting her for no. 1
glad for Sasha and Natasha should've been moved down
.

thanks:flower: this ranking is so dumb anyway I refuse to take it seriously.-_-

i am wondering how anja rubik feels at this moment...she takes 10+ years to get #3, while karlie...u know what i mean.
anyway, if karlie took vogue paris and became a regular favourite, then she has so strong VOGUE SUPPORTS from usa, paris, and milan.

go karlie go.

No she has never done nudes for Vogue or any magazine, thanks God because she's only 17. She will be 18 on January

They moved Karlie to number 3, isn't it obvious now she will be the next number one?
Well, her new VI ed left me speechless, in a very good way I must admit
Glad they moved Sasha to number 4.

Yeah, Karlie will definitely be #1 now. She just got a Numero cover. I'm 100% sure she will be #1.

yup, i agree. But if Karlie conquered #1, she must be staying there for a long time before she heads into icon list. She still can't be an icon, even Freja-ish, Anja-ish can't be.

^After two years of being #1, I think Karlie could definitely be an icon. Two years from now, she will probably be a huge VS star & still getting huge campaigns shot by Meisel. Just remember how young Gemma was when she became an icon.

have you guys notice that MDC has the VS commercials as a Campaign work? have they always do that?

karlie wont be number #1 if she doesnt get good campaigns. so far we dont know how many campaigns she will have and how prestige they are. so it is way too early to say that she will tale lara's spot. a number one spot will go to a well rounded girl. doesnt matter how amazing a model is at print works, if she doesnt do well in campaigns she will not get the top spot.

up to this point freja still has the edge over karlie. i really hope joan would get some major covers to get to the top spot. she has an amazing body. she is a great candidate for the top spot.

Karlie is definitely the front runner now but i agree with congacon, i think she needs a stellar campaign season too to be no. 1
she got JPG and Etro already but getting Dior again, becoming a VS sopekesmodel and another big campaign like Cavalli, Ferragamo or Lanvin will really ensure her the top spot.. plus a beauty contract like Maybelline would make her unbeatable!

i also have a question, all the no. 1 were eventually moved to Icons?
if Karlie becomes the no.1 maybe she just can go back to no.2 if someone like Joan beats her in around a year
.

^None of the #1s have ever been moved down, and they have all retired to the icons list after about 2 years. Oh, and how do you know Karlie got JPG? I haven't heard that news........

MDC just recently seemed to overhaul their rankings and this is the new list after the inclusion/addition/modification. I hope we all will be able to maintain an objective, mature and healthy discussion

LEGENDS

Every so often a model comes along who stands the test of time and leaves a lasting impression on the industry as a whole. With storied careers that hit every high note and reputations for professionalism and excellence these women are the standard by which other models are judged. More often than not their career trajectories push them outside the world of fashion and into television, film, entrepreneurship and philanthropy, transforming them into household names and even corporate entities.

More than anything it is longevity and widespread recognition that puts the legends in their own league. Some of the criteria we evaluate for this list include the following:

- At least 15 years of high profile work with top magazines, photographers and brands.
- Media presence outside of the fashion industry and widespread name recognition.
- Work that is considered iconic in nature i.e.. campaigns, covers & television commercials.
- Must have had at least one long term contract with fashion or beauty brand.

NEW SUPERS

Supermodels: The Next Generation! While the 90s era stars are still going strong there is a whole new crop of top models pushing into the public sphere and changing the industry as we know it. This group of social media savvy, creative and conscious beauties is redefining what it means to be a top model. Covers and campaigns are still a part of the equation, but they don’t tell the whole story. Social media impact, media attention both in and outside of fashion and the support of major photographers all factor in when separating the models from the supermodels.

Some of the important factors looked at for this list include:

- Media presence in and outside of the fashion industry and/or significant Social media following
- Consistent top tier editorial work with high profile photographers & stylists
- Must have at least one recent long term contract with fashion or beauty brand

INDUSTRY ICONS

The fashion business is no cakewalk. For a model to gain the respect of designers, photographers, editors, and casting directors is no small feat; and when a girl is not only respected but also revered, she becomes a legend in her own right. The industry icons are models who have built stellar careers, they've snagged every cover, walked every show, booked every campaign, and lived to tell the tale. Before you can be a true supermodel, you have to become one of the industry's preferred stars and these girls are all bonafide favorites.

Averaging around 7 years at blue chip level under their belts, they bring experience and professionalism to every job and never fail to elevate the image into the realm of art. These are the true model's models and their endless stream of power bookings reflects that.

I think that Sasha, Freja, Lily and Stam should be included in The Establishment and not New Generation. It's an insult to their amazing body of work and recent bookings. If Julia Stegner is there, so should the rest of the girls I mentioned. It's amazing to see Natasha finally included in the New Supers, her resume speaks for itself. I like Jourdan but what has she done to merit her inclusion in New Supers? And how about Kate Upton? What are her bluechip bookings for the past 12 months?

It doesn't really seem like they changed anything? And I'm sorry but they really need to change the name to lists since they don't actually rank anymore.

It's so bizarre to have a description at the top of a list when some of the models in that list don't fit that criteria! I mean since when does Tyra and Heidi have "At least 15 years of high profile work with top magazines, photographers and brands"?

Can anyone not interested in fashion actually name Daria and Natasha? And over Alessandra and Candice who should be in that list instead?

And there are way too many icons. They need to merge the lists as I agree that Caroline T, Coco, Daria S, Freja, Hilary, Iselin, Stam, Lily D and Sasha are actual industry icons. The rest are in no way an icon. I mean Arizona after a few years at the top and then vanishing? Karmen who doesn't even have a major Vogue cover and has yet to prove herself outside of Gucci and Kors? Kasia? Meghan? It's too soon to call Lindsey, Julia N, Edie and Saskia icons. Saskia has already slowed down! None of those girls are "Averaging around 7 years at blue chip level under their belts"

Some girls disappeared from the Top 50 models ranking (Marine D, Tilda Lindstam..)
They should add another category between the Top 50 and the Icons because it's a mess right now.

I don't see how they improved, especially with the mess in the Icons lists..
