Well, people got sick of the Raquel, Natasha, and Sasha too and it didn't stop them. I think Raquel, Sasha, and Natasha all are approaching iconic status, and are probably more iconic than some of the women on that list already, which is why I had the new faces competing for number one.

Anna J and Toni, I don't think so. Maybe in a couple of years, but you cant put them at the number 1 spot based on a couple of good seasons. A huge majority of Anna j's success is down to Steven Meisel, without him she wouldn't have 2 VI covers, a US vogue cover or half of her s/s 09 campaigns. Considering how he changes favourites quite quickly, I doubt her career will remain at the level it is at. I'd say either Raqual or Natasha should be at number 1.

I hope Natasha gets #1. She is amaizng! Sultry, sexy, a great walker, amaing editorial model, just all around stunning!

To be precise, Raquel went to modelling school in 1995 - 10 years before Sasha walks her first runway. She has had much more time to build her career and develop this huge list of campaigns.

Sasha has also branched out and used her modelling success to get jobs such as magazine editor (Fashion Week Daily Russia), and have exhibitions or her art in Paris and New York. This kind of thing is going to increase her visibility as an 'iconic' model. Raquel seems to treat modelling like a regular job rather than living and breathing it.

Should we also consider that Raquel has a near perfect body? Sasha didn't have that in her favour but she still made it and opens / closes haute couture shows.

Raquel is only 1 year and 8 months older than Sasha And of all campaigns Marcel mentioned NONE of them is from before F/W04 which was her breaking season. (One year before Sasha's) It's not Raquel's fault that she had her first VI cover when she was 17.

How Raquel treats modelling just like a regular job? As fas as I know it was Sasha's boyfriend who sent her pictures to an agency while Raquel left her town alone to try to be a model.

Sasha was totally fading until a month ago. With her VI cover and Chanel campaigns she's now back. But by now Natasha and Lara are bigger.

If Raquel is leaving, Natasha should be the new no1, she's been in this business for more time than Lara and is probably the biggest catwalker ever! Not to mention her 5 VP covers, now she's a favorite of US Vogue. Lara had 2 eds for US Vogue so far. Natasha is also a favorite of I&V and a new of Meisel, she's had lots of covers recently, and also is THE face of Gucci, Lara's break was like 2 years ago.

I think Raquel should move to the icon list or remain at number one due to all the upcoming campaigns she is has landed(JPG, Hermes, Gucci, Giorgio Armani). And also, i definatley think she is a muse to A LOT of designers, even though she may not dominate covers!
As for Sasha, I am not sure if she has landed any campaigns ( I know it is still early days, and not everything has been revealed) perhaps this is why she isn't no. 1. Maybe they know something we don't!
I think Lara really deserves this because this is the year that EVERYONE has kind of fallen in love with her (american Vogue) and she is starting to get the proper recognition she deserves. she is a star!!
But my guess is that it will probably be Natasha, I mean her "resume" speaks for itself!!!

Natasha has achieved and is still achieving more than Sasha and that is a fact. Natasha for No1. Just my two cents.

How does MDC work?Is it a independent agency or related to some model agents(like got sponsors)?
I think,why not team up the powerful people of fashion industry to rank these so called supermodels? It will be easier....LOL...Anna and Lagerfeld should judge this.

Those 2 judging, we'd have the same models in the Top 10 every week......forever. Karl would choose his favourite 2 girls of the moment and Anna would pick the other 8 bsaed on who could jump the highest for editorials NO WAY PLEASE!!!!!!
Let's leave the folks at MDC to do what they do whether we agree with it all or not.

I can't wait for the new MDC ranking... It's killing me!!! Natasha FTW! I mean compare her body of work to Lara's (Campaigns, Editorials, Runway), not to mention longevity and sustainability of momentum, Natasha has it all. As I've mentioned long ago the only two things lacking from her resume is a VI cover and Beauty campaign but even without those two it's already a given that Natasha is the apparent heir to Raquel's Number 1 throne. She is the MOST deserving of that recognition.

But we all have to agree that with Raquel's move to the Icon list, Natasha, Sasha and Lara all are Icons for me already even if they still are on the working models list. With the vacancy left Natasha should occupy it.


At the end of the day I love them all, but, you gotta give where credit is due.
