Men's Denim

for casual jeans I like Earnest Sewn which can be bought at any trendy denim shops that sell paper denims, 7s etc.. As for jeans from designer labels, of course I will have to say Dior Homme, as I love Jil Sanders jeans from this season, they are waaaaaaay tighter then Dior Homme jeans, Jils runway pics don't show how tight they really are. Arturo as for raw denim, Jil Sander has great raw blue denims for this season which have leather tabs. But they vary in price with the cheapest being 290. But you can always settle for DH raw denim which are 295. Here is a pic of what Jils look like.

For raw denim jeans, I really like Nudie Jeans and Helmut Lang. If you're looking for a straight leg cut, then you can probably find a pair of Helmut Langs really cheap on ebay, if you're into a bootcut or a really tight fit, Nudies are great.

I have a hard time finding good looking jeans with good quality. The better quality/look jeans I have owned are 4You . This trend is really good!

I have tried Parasuco ( If you know that) and its pure crap...

Actually, I think that this season's raw denim Dior jeans are $250, and that would be my recommendation.

^ Nope its 295

Oh yeah? I could've sworn I saw $250 in Jeffrey, but I wouldn't put my life on it. Anyway, at the first wave of sales, they'll be within Arturo's range. Of coures, the chances of getting them ons sale are slim.

I've posted this everywhere, but APC's price points are great - around $150, with long, fitted, raw denim cuts that can look Dior Homme or classic Helmut, in medium or low rises, and their raw denim is the stuff of Japanese idolatry (and we all know how obsessive the Japanese can get!). Plus, if you don't normally have a butt, you'll get one.

Oh, dammit, and I was going to flatter you with something like, "I haven't tried, but I know some stylish and trustworthy tFS members have championed APC." But what's the use now? :(

P.S. Isn't it funny how these days $150 is a "great price point"? What would we say five years ago when a pair of $100 Diesel's was considered outrageous?

^ faust i totally agree with the price point thing. I remember when I was in junior high Tommy Hilfiger carpenter jeans were extremely popular at around 60 dollars and even that was considered outrageous.

bakla can you tell me where I can buy APC or any website where I can check them out? ty

Thx everybody, I've been searching Ebay for Dior Homme denim..I haven't checked lately though...I'll see if I can find a place that sells Jils, and I'll look into APC..I'd like to have a butt ..APC probably has the best value, but the look of hte jeans on the website always throws me of. :flower:

just to let you know the sizing, I wear a 30 in Dior Homme and I wear a 32 in Jil Sanders jeans. I can't even button up a 30 in Jils.

I've had my eye on a pair of raw denim boot cut jns from Yanuk, but have yet to buy them.....even though I'm looking at them right now....slim thigh boot cut....pretty cool, but I'm waiting for the rep to give me half of wholesale as a personal...I know, I'm cheap:blush:

A small correction. APC's denim cost 120.00, not 150.00. I bought a pair of the rescues at the Mercer Street shop on thursday.

Arturo, I'd agree on the APCs. Proper narrow loom selvedge denim, unwashed, good price, nice fit.

Also try Levis Vintage Clothing, my personal favorite for reasonable priced "proper" jeans. Try the 1955s, 1944s or, for a slimmer fit, 1947s.

Others to try - 5EP (not raw, but one wash, very good quality selvedge, quite slim striaght cut (see www.hanon-shop.com)), Sugar Cane, PRPS (only look at the one wash selvedge, the "distressed" ones are rubbish), 45rpm (v nice but pricey, and again only one wash rather than selvedge) and Nudie (do a v nice nice unwashed "dry" mid blue selvedge jean).

As you might be abe to tell, for raw denim I wouldn't recommend "fashion" brands - go for selvedge, japanese woven denim if possible. A lot of fashion raw denim is just indigo cotton without the real character of ringring spun selvedge denim. On the whole, APC best for the bucks.

I 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) previous recommendations of Dior Homme, Helmut Lang and APC. I recently got my first pair of APCs and I'm very happy with them.

I really like the slim fitting nudies from what I see on the website, there are a pair that really resemble the DH black whiskers (which I still haven't been able to snatch) I might check those out.

Dammit ChadR, you're cutting into my kickback!

And thanks for the correction. I've bought so much stuff lately, it's all averaging out in my head (especially since I've been buying in Euros over the phone - man, it's been calculation city all month!). rescues? Which ones are those? I remember Cruise, but not rescue...

Haha, did I say 120, I ment 150! The rescues are the normal fit, selvage, unwahshed striaghtleg jeans. Pretty basic, but beautiful none the less.
