Men's Denim

Yeah on a recent trip to Milan I discovered this small warehouse and there seemed to be some human noise coming out of it...i walked over to see what was going on, it was two people talking and in the midst of the empty space there was ONE clothing rack, with 3 pairs of pants hanging there. I went to see the pants and it was the most beautifully distressed denim I've ever seen. They were Arturos, needless to say. I bought a pair right there, best 1082 euros I've ever spent.

I would stay away from Dior Homme and Helmut Lang since the label is so overpriced and the quality isn´t that good. :(

I would go with APC jeans or Acne, but before chistmas i discovered H&M Denim line. I absolutely love it.
The quality is good and price is even better. Try them and you can afford to puy a pair of jeans every month.

Go to www.hm.com and choose USA and then go to the Romeo & Juliet denim site to check them out.

Fashion isn´t allways expensive.

I would just stay clear of Dior Homme raw denim from the current season. I got mine I think Fall Winter 04 and they have held up tremendously, not to mention they were only 215 USD.

sleazyninja i love your avatar

oldboy is still my favorite movie...ive enjoyed every film park chan wook put out so far.

anyways, sorry about that random comment..

anyone know the measurement of the hem for the julian red californias...

anyone wanna suggest some denim?

im looking for either a dry, or a reasonably faded/distressed pair of denim with a hem around 7-7.5 inches..(not sure what that is in cm...) rise isnt an issue, but id prefer a mid to low rise, and a looser fit around the top then slims down as it goes down the leg...i dunno if that made sense...

i have a pair of raw denim nudies, that i love, i want sme acne earth washed jeans, but they are almost 400, i want them though!

They started as 100 pairs given to friends as a thank-you, but now the super-skinny jeans from Swedish film/publishing/creative company ACNE (from Ambition to Create Novel Expressions), seen here, are taking New York, thanks to a little help from the newly reopened Seven New York in SoHo (110 Mercer Street)...In other denim news, leave it to Levi's to create a high-end jean line with a Capital E, its most premium line for 2006. Features include pajama-soft fabric achieved from agressive washing, turquoise hardware, single-stitching and the use of construction techniques that Levi's originated in 1873. It doesn't get more old-school than that. Now shipping to Barneys New York, Atrium and Fred Segal, 8118 Melrose Avenue, L.A., 323-655-3734...

Julian Red Californias (no wash) measure 7" at the hem (31w 32L) and fit pretty much as you've described.

APC New Standards might also work because they stretch a lot in the waist.

thanks for the info..

how much will it shrink in the waist and inseam after the first wash..i only plan on doing cold soaks..if that makes any difference..

oh, im asking about the julian red calis right now..

^ I don't know, I haven't washed them yet

They are sanforized, so they shouldn't shrink much, especially in a cold soak. I imagine whatever shrinkage does occur, can be stretched back out by wearing (waist) and pulling while damp (length.)

Wait? Huh? What? :o

I love how this conversation has been centered around me and my "denim line"

Bakla - Faust was joking. The ngbetter thought I was a denim line
Ninja - I'm glad you like my denim line.....
Jblasta - if I do make a denim line (highly unlikely), you'll be the first I inform :flower:
FTB - the pants in my avatar are from a picture I took from an art exhibit in a nearby art gallery. Lots of white pants were hanging from the ceiling fluttering in a concrete room. It was beautiful - and the fabric of the pants/jeans was very impressive. However, it was only an art installment, but believe me - I was going to ask if they were for sale for me to wear:innocent:
Faust- it's www.arturomarchellijeanscouture.it, I dunno where you got that other website, must be counterfeits..

hmm...another Levi's high end line, I wonder what the results will be and how it's going to sit next to the LVC collection. Perhaps this is a totally different direction - a strategy for Levi's to catch up to the 'fashion' denim crowd like the Diors and McQueens of the world?

Dolce & Gabbana has some decent denim if you have the body and look for it...i'm not so much a fan of the overly ripped/embroidered styles, some of their (still distressed) but a bit more subtle versions are nice, like the kinds the designers themselves usually wear on the runway. Also for f/w 05-06 they did a decent variation of Dior Homme's black painted blue jean, except better suited for someone who is a bit shorter and more well built.

wee... just bought a pair of Julian Red Hoboken Nikki Sixx..... hope the inseam is more then 33 when it arrive.... waist is 31 though....

anyone have any opinions about prps jeans?

They have (or had) a one-wash jean with purple selvage that I think is beautiful. I didn't like the way they fit on me, or I would definitely have bought them because the denim and construction quality, finishing, details, etc. were top-notch.

Most of their washed jeans are "overdone" IMO.
