Men's Fashion...

ok i think at 15 its probhably a bit too early to start hitting on the top brands like dior homme and hugo boss.....

if i were you i would check out urbanOutfitters.com, they have cool statement tee's and not so expensive.

Yeah, I think that at 15, boys usually don't really know so many brands, like Versace, Boss, Dior Homme, Gucci or YSL... I mean, most of them can't even pronounce it right!

I guess this lil' kid means stuff like Hilfiger, Hugo or maybe even D&G... It's hard for me to imagine him knowing those big brands... I mean, as long he's not a fashionista, hehe

What, I knew all these at 15, I knew them before then. What are you talking about. And D & G is a 'big' brand as well you know.
And I dont really think a 15 year old is a lil kid when you are 18 Kiks

street, i dont think its the fact that 15 year olds dont know who these labels are, its just they arent really tall enough or big enough to be able to wear them properly.

i can remember when i was 12 i bought some versace jeans which was absolutely rediculous  they didnt fit lengthways or around my body

Ok I've found great deals at some outlets on top-designer stuff....

ie.

john varvatos sweater for $22.00 (orig $198)
diesel jeans for $35.00 (orig $178)
dolce and gabbana sweathshirt for $60.00 (orig $350+)
Hugo Boss polo for $15.00 (orig $80.00+)
Versace Jeans Couture Sweater at Saks for $55.00 (orig $300+)
Earl Jeans for $50.00 (orig $125)

and the best find......

Dolce and Gabbana shirt for $150.00 (orig $1,500+)

you can get some cool stuff if you really look, ive just been lucky to find this stuff

i knew most of them when i was like 10. weird.

So, what's good for a small-framed, slim, muscular, 29-year-old guy?

I am trying so hard to get my husband into some decent clothes. Among the problems are that he likes his clothes roomy, and that is almost a guarantee, since he's 5'8" with a 29" waist. Everything seems to be proportioned for 6' tall guys. Also, though he is slim, he is very muscular, as a byproduct of his job loading trucks. Any bloke here who wants to get ripped needs to get himself a job at FedEx. If you can hang with it, it will give you the body you always wanted.

Does anyone know of any particular brands that run smaller or offer stylish lines for guys who don't have that lanky Northern-European build?

Oh, and a pricetag within the reach of a receptionist and a FedEx handler are, as usual, of the essence!

Have you seen a show on TLC called "What Not To Wear"? One of their episodes deals with a guy who has the exact same stats as your husband, right down to age, physical shape, and a tendency to wear oversized clothes. I believe his name was Eric, and you can check when it'll be re-aired on their website.

It was one of the best episodes IMO, because the clothes the "experts" have chosen for him were so tasteful and fit his bodyframe so well. I know, because I'm slim and small-framed too and know all too well what works and what doesn't work with my body type.

Like I said, its maybe just us ppl who really care for fashion, but a lot of them teenagers know nothing about it. Sure they know the names (I mean, you see rappers on MTV struttin' LV, Gucci and Burberry), but I can't imagine them really "liking" that stuff... I know alot of 20 year old's who still think that those brands are "gay" (no offence here) and "tacky"...

Well, just my thought

precicely.
Kiks, I knew about all these Labels before I got interested in fashion. The statement that most 15 year olds dont know what these brands are is wrong (even the pikeys know)If this boy is thinking of spending $600 on clothes, I think he either knows, or aspires to know. But I still think he should do things with clothes that you can carry of when you are 15, that he wont be able to wear when he is older.
What to reccomend is completely up to his taste as there are so many teenage groups and he might not want to wear certain types of clothes.
When I was 15, I really wanted to wear the Armani Jeans line.

My reccomendation, Donna Karan.

Thanks for the tip. I don't have cable, though, so I don't think I will be able to see this show.

he is actually quite tall and built with broad shoulders, so i think that he can pull it off.

and street, of course he knows those brands...who doesn't?
those brands are what he's looking for...so i will highly encourage him to hit the outlets, because he won't get half an outfit at retail price. thanks for the suggestion Diesel21

If he's only 15 , go for a more bridge line rather than designerwear because he'll get tired of them as part of growing up...There's a line called Nice Collective from San Francisco doing a great job of translating Dior Homme, Ann Demeulemeester and Martin Margiela...etc into more affordable clothes. They have fantastic Tshirts, (Jake Gyllenhall, Jesse McCalffe are fans), amazing jackets (Gavin Rossdalle raves about them and they dress Chris Martin for Coldplay tour) and known for their combat pants....Starting from $80 CDN for Tshirts to $400CDN for coats...check them out at Global Atomic in Yaletown (if he's in Vancouver), that store is awesome in term of stockist...lots of big brands like DIesel, Adidas originals to indie smaller brands like Nice Collective, Buckler from NYC, local designers...etc
