Metrosexuals

I cant agree on the people who get pissed with society for labeling traits.

Almosr everything, and everyone has a label. I seem to think that this is how society works. With all of todays styles and sub-cultures (punk, prep, rocker, hippie, bohemian...etc.) it is inevitable to have labels

Its just a label for the type of style. We do it here on TFS.

What is gay culture then? (If it's not gay sex there's nothing that gay men have done for longer than straight men)

He meant "gay culture" as in what gay men/people stereotypically like, do, and are into: such as bieng obessed with looking good, designer clothes, Madonna/Cher/Barbara Streisand, and musicals/theater... crap like that.

Gay sex has been around just as long as straight sex. Just think of the ancient Greeks. [/b][/quote]
Yes, and? Gay sex is still the only thing gay men have done for longer than straight men...

Hi :)
I finally understand, people act a certain way, and if you step back and lok, you see, people can sometimes fall under these catagories. So a group of people acting in this similar way have been called meterosexuals.

So you can fit people into boxes, and the argument is whether its right or wrong to brand people.

:)^_^

Its a culture in any case. Its something that sets them aside from hetrosexuals

Today, I came out of the closet. I realized today what I had been hiding about myself for my whole life, and nothing helped me better understand this than when I watched the show, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

After hiding for many years, I am proud to say "YES I AM A METROSEXUAL".

Yes I love hot chicks (see Sophie Sweet). Yes, I love shopping. Yes I do exfoliate, tone, and moisturize. Yes I do have an underwear model body. Yes I read fashion magazines. Yes I use a nose hair trimmer. Yes I love martini's. Yes I love going for coffee. Yes I shave and trim most of my body hair. Yes David Beckham and Brad pitt are my idol's. Yes I dress better than most women.

So, should I tell my parents ?

Phew...

Looks like I'm safe; it takes me about five minutes at the most to get dressed in the morning, and I've never had a manicure/pedicure/etc.

But I loves me some fashion!

I am white, straight, American, and operate Clothing Factory in Hong Kong. I am not seeing such a large change in fashion trends from this angle. Men clothing stores order Mens Clothing and Women Clothing stores order Women's clothing. It is has been the same for 50 years. Basically the same products, with a tweak here and a tweak there.

Media Minds Brain F$*3ed You. It's interesting though to see so many concerned about this possible trend of more fasionable straight guys, but I don't think it's anything to worry about per say. Having a sense of fashion doesn't mean you are Gay. Straight guys sometimes worry about that I guess. Which seems quite girlish to me, being so self reflective.

Personally I think I am quite stylish, but I have all the tools necessary to be, and see the changes in trends. One of our designers is a homosexual white male, (He prefers I call him Gay), and he dresses with a bit more style than me, and our models.

I would call him, in a fashion sense, his own type of Diva. He certainly has my vote, and if he were straight, I would simply vote him eccentric, for style, fashion, class, is NOT a bad thing.

Here's my stance on Metrosexuality.....

As a gay man it pisses me off that hetero guys have taken something we've been doing for years and making it a trend......it's like, Oh my god! You've discovered the concept of fashion and use multiple hair products, big deal! Everyone should be well groomed. But, metrosexuals, the extreme ones like David Bekham, take it to the point where it's just obnoxious.

I just never understood why it was "faggy" to be well dressed, and cultured and take care of yourself.....but what really gets to me is that now guys who used to throw around the word *** like it's the ultimate insult for a male, are now embracing metrosexual practices.

First disco, now style........what's next, are the heteros gonna steal gay sex from us next and make a handbook about it?

i completely agree...it's offensive that there has to be some label for it. it's like no one's comfortable being an individual. if you want to be well groomed and well dressed and sleep with women, do that, but there's really no need for you to assert yourself as some identity so that we can "understand" you better.

sure, maybe five years ago, men in big cities dressed better bc they were around fashion and fashion people and could get away with it, but these days you can go anywhere and see a guy in a four hundred dollar shirt with ninety dollar eye cream...

(im studying to be a menswear designer at fashion school so im always keeping my eye out for interesting and important contact's) ;)

I don't see why this even matters! So some straight guys are reaching for designer jeans and bronzer, so sh*tting what? Who cares what it's called? All's I know is that Ryan Seacrest will always be a dog, no matter how much he spends on his shampoo.

That guy is such a freakin' tool. No sense of personal style whatsoever. Just trends, trends, and more desperate trends...
