Metrosexuals

What is gay culture then? (If it's not gay sex there's nothing that gay men have done for longer than straight men)
He meant "gay culture" as in what gay men/people stereotypically like, do, and are into: such as bieng obessed with looking good, designer clothes, Madonna/Cher/Barbara Streisand, and musicals/theater... crap like that.

:o :o :o I first heard this term while watching Miss Match a few weeks ago and I wanted to gag then just as much as I do now. :o :o :o Metrosexuals? Oh please.

I can't believe that people are stopping and putting labels on everything now. Why is it that a straight man can't just have style now? If someone has style and is into fashion and they are a man they automatically have "gay traits " (what in the hell is a gay trait anyway?)

My boyfriend is very into style and fashion. I think its harder to shop with him then with a group of my girlfriends. That doesn't make him gay nor does it make him "metrosexual". It just makes him a guy with good taste.

I know a few gay guys who have the worlds worst taste in clothing and I know a few gay guys that dress to the nines. Being into fashion doesn't mean you are gay.

If you look at it that way, any female who doesn't care about style and fashion is a lesbian.

I don't understand why labeling actions, behaviours, thoughts, and opinions is such a popular thing. Just think of how happy of a world we would live in if people just quit labeling!
I like the way you think, and I totally agree!

this is way to involved for me.

for those of you who hate this metrosexual movement...you should form an anti ryan seacrest cult and bring that sucka down.

as for me...i wear what i like.

if it's one of those oooo things that i think people would say anything about i wear on the weekends until girls tell me they like and then i don't give a sh*t.

i think this whole guys wearing girl's pants isn't supposed to be a metro. thing it's trying to be more of a rock and roll kind of thing. it's more like glam rock coming back you could say.

or you could just ignore me completel that sounds good too. [:

  Where do I sign up for the anti anti-christ ahem uhh I mean, anti Ryan Seacrest cult? hahaha

Yeah, most of the boys I know who wear girls pants do it because of the "rock and roll factor", not the metrosexual factor.

Yeah why is there a label on a guy who dresses and/or acts like a gay man but is straight....terms like heterosexual, bisexsual, transexual and homosexual are meant to label a persons sexual orientation and is perfectly fine and just

But metrosexual just basically means a fashionable straight man, but people put it into the same category as those listed above. It's not meant to list his orientation but only his touchy feely sensitivity and great fashion sense -_-

Why call a person metro.... can't you just call that guy fashionable and call it a day????

That perplexes me

But all that aside

I love metrosexuals  I'm dating a "unofficial metro".....

My "unofficial metro" boyfriend's point of view in this is he thinks that why should he all of a sudden be labeled into something just because he likes to look good? He doesn't like it either that is has to be metro-SEXUAL...it sounds too much like a label of sexual orientation which people do often mistake it for...My friend Michael actually freaked when someone said he was metrosexual...he thought that term was like the new word for gay or something...

So I love metro guys,I just don't see the point in labeling them as such. :flower:

Labels suck sh*t.

I don't care if people dress well, but I HATE the guys who are like "yeah look at me, I'm a metro!!"

DIE!!!!!!!

I really don't understand why it is impossible to most people to live and let live...

i have nothing against gay men. or straight men. or metrosexual men.

what pisses me no ends is how people relate everyone who cares how they look to metrosexuality

 on their faces!!!!!

My family has a combined total of five degrees in psychology so I would, wouldn't I...

Ok I do not understand these phobic views coming from each side of this.

Men and style have always been there. The fact that America has new term for men that are serious about style and grooming is f--ing stupid. What does a gay man dress like anyway? It there is a biased view of this again so what. Because a man dresses fashionably is not a gay or straight attribute!!!!!!!! Nor is a gay man dressing like a mountain man a straight one. sh*t if you have a problem with a guy merely dressing nicely- your stupid. If you hate the way a certain guy carries themselves and has terrible attitude like they are Gods gift to this Earth then I'll hear it. This rest is crap and I expect more from the enlightened people on TFS.

First of all, there was a time when evry man dressed well, even if they were poor. The attitude of the culture
was look your best. Now there were also men and women that went beyond that and had great or unique style, both gay and straight , into fashion or creative fields , business or aristocracy. Period!!!!!!
sh*t when I was a kid I had many pink shirts and pink socks to match( 80's). I grew up in the hood and nobody cared too much- I was a preppy kid. I cared about my appearence. I also did not have a millions of gay guys coming on to me. Primarily beyond my own interest in fashion, I did it for the ladies!!!!! The girls I liked , liked the guys that dressed well! Not avarage Joe, or Jocks, or Thugs. This I know most straight do it for also!!!!

ANother note on a issue some ones posted here: Straight men being hit on by gay men:

Again- more stupidness!!!! Most gay people like most straight people can figure each other out!!!! I know this for a fact. Any gay guy growing up has had to be able to figure out who to approach, so why should a few clothes throw you off? You know there are some clues and clothes are not the best option to judge. Try getting to know someone first as you already know this is a sticky subject!!!! And can be a dangerous one for
gay people in general due to this country's homophoebia- like this is new news or something!!

Well thats the American view sorted.

This was a very old topic and I'm not sure why I revived it. Most has been said allready, nice to look back though.

Metrosexuals have inhabitated Europe longer than North America

I also believe that metrosexuals in N. America started in Montreal, because as most know, Montreal is the most "European" city in North America.

I think its cute :innocent:

My boyfriend is borderline metrosexual. He cant be totally metro because he's a homophobe and fears that wearing pink is too gay.

Gay sex has been around just as long as straight sex. Just think of the ancient Greeks.
