Mia Wasikowska

:woot: First Jane Eyre, now Emma Bovary!

Mia Wasikowska is set to star in Occupant Entertainment's ''Madame Bovary,'' which Sophie Barthes will direct from an adapted screenplay by Rose Barreneche.

Wasikowska will play the lead role of Emma Bovary. Paul Giamatti is also circling a key role.

While the adaptation is a period piece that is faithful to Gustave Flaubert's original story, it is a fresh retelling of the classic novel, emphasizing the more youthful and contemporary themes.

Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino will produce for Occupant.

WME will handle domestic rights.

Wasikowska is repped by WME and RGM.

Production will start this fall in Europe.

This shall be an interesting role for Mia. She really does suit period roles very well.

I'm kind of scared about the "youthful and contemporary" themes.:unsure: But super excited for Mia's portrayal!

good for her for getting a new project, but i really wish she'd do something non-literary based or historic (despite of this being a contemporary view of the book). it's like she fell under the radar recently when it comes to work which is weird considering how talented she is.

^ I don't know if this was ever posted here but she's doing another movie with Jesse Eisenberg. It's inspired by a novel but it's modern day setting.

Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska have joined the Richard Ayoade-directed The Double with shooting to start this spring in the U.K. Inspired by Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s classic novella, the story centers on an insignificant man driven to near breakdown by the appearance of his doppelganger. Submarine helmer Ayoade co-wrote the script with Avi Korine. Alcove Entertainment’s Amina Dasmal and Robin Fox are producing with Andy Stebbing to co-produce. The U.K.’s Film4 is co-financing while Protagonist Pictures has international sales and will begin meetings on the project at the EFM in Berlin next week.

Deadline.

Mia is going to be at Cannes again this year with Lawless. I was holding out for Stoker as well but Lawless should be good.
The Cannes Film Festival will open with Wes Anderson's new film "Moonrise Kingdom," and feature the latest work from David Cronenberg ("Cosmopolis"), Andrew Dominik ("Killing Them Softly"), Michael Haneke ("Amour"), Walter Salles ("On the Road"), Lee Daniels ("The Paperboy") and John Hillcoat ("Lawless") among others.

I like Mia in Cannes. The dark red gown she wore last year was lovely on her. I hope to see some nice looks.

Lawless still:

Are those sweat stains? Poor thing..

Her look was ok but I wish she wore it with more confidence or posed better.. It looks kind of bland

One of the best outfits she ever wore.she looked stunning, i dont think many could've pulled of this dress like she did. Amazing!

One of my favorite! The dress suits her and loved the hair as well

She looks great! Dress fits her really well and it's totally her. My only complaint is the lipstick, seems a little harsh on her.
