The French Photo website gives no indication that it's not the genuine article, but according to yvymag.com, the real story apparently is:

The celebrity photographer and artist David LaChapelle had always wanted to take a portrait of Michael Jackson, and nearly did: several shoots were lined up and cancelled as Jackson grew increasingly wary. “Photographers weren’t nice to him,” says LaChapelle. “He got scared.” After Jackson’s death LaChapelle decided to pay tribute, photographing a young lookalike in Hawaii, just outside his own home: a 25-acre ranch on the coast, three hours from the nearest shop. He moved there three years ago, turning his back on lucrative contracts with Vanity Fair, Italian Vogue and Rolling Stone. The “devil” in red is a friend who performs in the Cirque du Soleil. The image forms part of a trilogy inspired by Mexican saint cards.

Ugh Friday!! Can't believe it's almost been an entire year. I think the only thing I'm actually looking forward to is watching his videos on tv since pretty much every music channel will be playing his music.

^Yeah, same for me. I really enjoy listening his songs, watching his videos on TV but I'm so sad that the 25th June is the only time we'll hear them now.

For those who live in France, TF1 will program The Private Home Movies, Saturday 26th, really early in the morning like 1am. It sucks that it's so late but it's something to see.

^oh yeah, i'll watch it ! I just hope they let his voice and just add subtitles. Because the french voice they gave him for Moonwalker sucked. And I don't like when it's french over english, it's distracting. I'm a little weird for that but hey, i request high quality when it comes to MJ. And I hope they will put the good years because they already used footages from the PHM and they put 2003 on the footage of him and Liz Taylor at Christmas, and well, I didn't like that, lol.

It really hasn't felt like it has been one year already. Not a day has gone by that I have not thought about Michael. As much as I have always loved him and his music, I'm even a little surprised at how much of an impact the loss has had on me. After reading some things today, I remembered why I don't visit MJ message boards all that much any more... I'm far more interested in the celebration of his talent and the legacy he has bestowed on the world. I have probably enjoyed listening to his music in the past couple of weeks more than I have in months.
