Well to to be honest, the types of dresses that she has been wearing lately aren't exactly what I'd use to describe her style. Her style a few years back (the striped Chloe dress she wore to the Independent Film Awards, say) seemed more true to her style. It was very in sync with what she wore in candids. It's almost as if her stylist has reduced her to being a cliched, Mia Farrow wannabe wearing only 'sweet' dresses.

I agree. While the latest dress is quite pretty us regular gals would wear it shopping not to a premiere. It's not really about our standards for celebs being high when it comes to fashion it's that her style is becoming too simple.
