Michelle Williams

I am so disappointed with her as I thought she was above shoots like this. I mean she looks like she has a fabulous body but these shoots are so tacky. She's one of the few actresses in Hollywood who are at the top because of their talent not their obvious use of their appearance or sexiness so this sort of negates everything.

Of course she's getting nominated, I think jomarlushka means for the WIN. :innocent:

correct ! I imagine them having to watch Charlize, Meryl, Michelle and 2 more and they will look up the latest news and when they see Michelle's arguments thanks to a little help of her publicists and Weinstein helping her deciding to go for the GQ I believe it will help the old men from the Oscar jury a little bit...at least if they found her MM-interpretation not sexy enough! I know my thinking sounds a bit sarcastic but I honestly could imagine the masterminds behind Oscar-campaigns thinking that way...I don't welcome that but I think they are like some campaign spinners trying to push the necessary buttons...it's definitely not a coincident that those pics surfaced after her great win at the GG as she has established that she got it purely for ther acting and now going for the Oscars they will have the GG-win in mind and those sexy pics that might help them with their decision...it's like some "product placement" you might not notice in a "in-your-face"-way but remember when choosing ....:innocent:

^but Cinthia said voting is closed (post 831) so it doesn´t serve that purpose. Maybe if it was released around the same time as the movie...

okay. i understand. yes the oscars are a big machine but i wont be sad if she wins because she is talented. its sad if she has to do things she doesnt like if she is pressured. i hope she really is okay with the pictures.

the voting for the nominations, my bad. everybody assume that she will be nominated. :flower:

Yes, taking for granted her Oscar-nomination of course and referring to the votes for the Oscar itself

It makes sense then. I guess that no matter how talented an actress is she can´t get away ccompletely from the HW machine...

^yes that's what I believe too kokobombon and there is no actress around Michelle's age who hasn't had pictures of that kind released by the time they reach 30! At least I do not know any who did not to be honest. Mostly they do it earlier in their 20ties à la Charlize, Cameron, even Julia Roberts did back in those Pretty Woman days... Having done that makes me believe that she thought it might give her more credibility as the actress fully "understanding" and being able to reflect all sides of Marilyn Monroe and on the other hand would indicate that she does feel more comfortable showing her body...what I am surprised at is the level of personal exposure in that interview...she seems to loose all boundaries in that interview and the interviewer seems to hit right were it hurts her and somehow hurl her into corners where she has no other chance than to expose herself and get emotional...sounds like a terrible interview experience for her and shows that she tries to guard herself and sometimes comes off a bit "icy" but is just the opposite and really "vulnerable" ...those years of self-inflicted loneliness being "divorced" and on her own from her parents seem to have definitely marked her in the way to shield away and try to give a face of "knowing it all" though trembling and not knowing it all at all...she shouldn't be so hard on herself imo...complicated but great person imo...glad she's got her daughter

The interview was, indeed, pretty terrible imo. Must have been quite a tough encounters for her.

She looks sexy in GQ and I love the W magazine shot. It's nice to see her embracing her sexy side. I love it. :D

^I wanted to like the W shoot and I did until I saw those shoes....wtf? they kill the whole picture and the possible sexiness

Well, I believe she was in character in that picture. It's not supposed to be an editorial or anything. :D

but those shoes.......what character? person with horrible shoes? ;) oh well, I don't know what they were going for but I like the picture until your eyes reach those shoes in that W pic...and the way it is shot they seem so small from that perspective which makes the whole pic even worse concerning those shoes...enough ramblings about that one :)

despite of the fact she looks pretty in the W pic, i do get the direction they were aiming for, tbh. too messy.

Are you guys saying that the GQ ed ''smells of Harvey''?

Um cause if so sorry but no. He has nothing to do with that. It's her ''people'' that have to get her out there on covers and tv interviews. They are the ones who decide what to do and what not with the editors etc. Harvey may suggest to certain people like Anna but overall he has nothing to do with it. And it's Michelle's choice if she does GQ.

off topic at this point, but yeah, Harvey has a great input when it comes to Oscar campaigning, you'd be surprised to what extend. it's a cooperation between his and her team at this point with suggestions flying all over the place, esp since she's a favourite for this year. he's very much in control, it's no wonder since his movies are back in the game for the last couple of years when it comes to winning. despite of it, i agree, no one forced Michelle into this. she was the the one calling the game in the end.

It's not like Harvey is calling GQ it's more like a mix:

I do believe that her surroundings did influence her in her choices to go for that interview...with publicists I mean her team all concerning her career and PR and being now Harvey's first and most important "horse" in the stable for the Oscar race I do believe that he is in contact with her team and directing a bit or at least asking for a positive-attitude of the possible Oscar and other awards-contester! it's not like he asks the actresses to strip but he surely expects something for something... and an effort on their part in the campaign...
