JunyaSchick, I agree. Didn't the director of Doubt say that Natalie couldn't understand why someone would want to be a nun and be celibate. And doesn't she have a degree in psychology which is about understanding human behaviour. As for Scarlett, I think she is bad. All those movies you mentioned her being good at. ghost world, the girl with the pearl earring and lost in traslation. I have seen and she has little dialogue. LOL.

^but acting is also about body language, movement and face expressions and she did a good job doing so in the three movies with little dialogue... (just think, Charlie Chaplin wasn't an actor cause he was speaking in most of his films???) on the contrary in Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona she doesn't speak much and she does a mediocre performance.

yeah, I read the director of the Doubt said that about Portman... but can't tell if it's true or not...

I know acting is more than dialogue. I am well aware of the physicality of acting. It is definitely harder to act when there is no talking and only relying on your movement be it facially or body.. I think the inconsistency that people see with the two girls mentioned maybe is the material, director, dialogue, etc. They are just weak performers. Now I know it is easier to say. But when a person can tranform their performaces and even do a fanstatic work when the writing is average is a great actress in my book.

agree, take Meryl Streep for instance... Mamma Mia! was one of the worst films I have seen in my life and she was able to make an outstanding performance and deserved critics' acclaim.

That's her sister again, I think the guy is her sisters boyfriend as he's always around when she is. I love the way Michelle dresses so much. Funny, even though her sis is wearing the same clogs as Michelle and a lovely Isabel Marant scarf she never looks as chic, but that's just me.
