Minimizing Pores, questions and advice!

Jojoba oil should be brilliant for oily skin. And the hair as well!

Has anyone tried La Roche Posay's Effaclar K?

I've been using about 5 tubes so far (about 6 months), and must say that it leaves my skin really smooth and almost poreless! I really like their stuff, and my dermatologist even recommended me to use stuff from this brand. It's effective, yet gentle. I did read in a couple of magazines that models do use this as well...

How does everyone here do the Oil Cleansing Method? I tried it before and wasn't really impressed, but maybe I was doing it wrong.

I have just used the toner, which was ok, but NOTHING like Biologique Recherche's P50. That minimized my pores, but didn't do enough about my blackheads, which was part of the reason I switched. I used the formula for sensitive skin, but I do think I would have gotten more results with the "normal" P50.

You have to do it for at least some weeks to see results IMO. I just used a cleansing oil...massage it onto dry skin, massage some water onto it and then rinse. Can't go wrong, mainly because cleansing oils has something in them that makes them lather. Don't know how to do it with regular oils.

I hate how the pores on my nose are so clearly visible (thankfully only there) and I was looking for something to replace the "Pore Minimizer Refining Serum" by Clinique since I refuse to continue buying their products for various reasons.

Has anyone tried the "Rare Earth Pore Minimizing" range from Kiehl's? I stopped by the counter to ask about it and the assistant took one look at my face and said it would be way too harsh for my skin. I was a little taken aback by her quick judgement, but she was really helpful and obviously knew what she was talking about. They had run out of samples for the lotion which I really wanted to try but I got samples for the face wash and the mask. I'm kind of scared to use them, though. Any reviews?

diesanni i've used the cleanser and the masque and i'm in love. lately as i've gotten older my skin has really calmed down, but i do have some larger pores and occasionally a breakout, but some dryness in winter. they gave me a sample for the mask and i took it home, used it, and my pores looked visibly smaller. my skin felt smoother than it's been in a loooong time... just use moisturizer after!!! i also got the cleanser when i went back to the kiehl's shop and i've liked it so far. my cheeks and nose are really soft and if i use moisturizer, no dryness and the pores are very minimal. i've also been using better makeup (when i wear it) and being religious about cleansing day and night and being aware of dryness and breakout type foods... i'd say use them and be conscious of your skin's reaction. but i'm in love, personally.

^Thank you so much for the review!
What's you skin like, is it more sensitive or not? I have such problems with my skin lately, it seems to be reacting to everything. I went back to Dr. Hauschka for now, doesn't do much for the pores-problem but at least I don't feel like scratching my face all time.

Wow, thanks for the pore minimizing tip and the review. I think we have the same problem spots diesanni, so far, i've used the VMV Pore Minimizing Toner and.. well, the effects were not as I expected so I stopped using it and I was looking for a new one.

it's pretty sensitive to climate/humidity changes, stress, etc. my skin tone has always been a bit uneven because i used to have worse acne but now it's really smoothed out. i've never had irritated skin in that i wanted to scratch it a lot, however...

The woman at the Clinique counter said that wearing sunscreen will help my pores get smaller. (That, and she wanted me to buy their pore minimizer.) But overall, she said sunscreen helps. True?

^Don't ever buy anything from Clinique...

The SA is right in a way. It doesn't help make your pores smaller, it just helps your pores from becoming larger. Sun damage can calls the cells around your pores to thicken, resulting in a sort of "rimlike" look of skin cells around the pores. The breakdown of collagen from sun damage also makes the walls around your pores lose elasticity. Your pores will end up looking larger from the sagginess...

Thanks, michyed. No Clinique. I'll have to call the lady to cancel my consultation. I'll be wearing sun screen religiously now. ^_^

Why no Clinique?
I've been trying to find the ingredients of their products but with no avail.

Thank you again! I'm afraid it'd really be too harsh then.

I've been advised to use a mask made of pure healing earth and water. Let's see how that works.

has anyone tried any jurlique masks?

Their sh*t is harsh and toxic. You can use the toners to remove nail polish and clean makeup counters. They concentrate their toners with a RIDICULOUS amount of alcohol. The first time I tried my friend's Clarifying Lotion #2, my skin burnt for a good 10 minutes and the next morning it was shedding. It's also very disgusting that they actually add artificial coloring to all their stuff, even the products made for sensitive skin. Pretty much think of all the worst skincare ingredients imaginable - Clinique's bound to have them lying around somewhere in their products.

I think with Clinique it either works great for people or not; in my experience anyways. I've tried a lot of Clinique products and have either had great success or just made my skin worse.
