I mean she did.
She comes from a rich family in the first place. The same privilege probably helped her sister too…
I don’t get why modeling should be linked to a kind of social justice when it’s already rooted in the unfair nature of beauty.
Stella Tennant didn’t come from poverty either. And she had a quite terrific career.
The only person we could blame for Bella’s career is Carine Roitfeld. If plastic surgery was the gold ticket for a successful career, we would have had more surgerically enhanced successful models, no?
I don’t think it’s fair to compare the Instagirls to legends like Stella and Carla. Sure, coming from a wealthy family wasn’t unheard of for models back then, and that’s not something I take issue with. But riding on your sibling’s coattails? That’s another story entirely. I like Gigi, I respect that she’s been modeling for years and built her career. Bella, on the other hand, feels like she just tagged along for the ride. Imagine if Stella had a completely ordinary-looking sister who went through a full makeover and then used Stella’s connections to book jobs, taking opportunities away from hardworking models who are actually trying to make a living. The same can obviously be said about Kendall, but that's a conversation for a different day. We can agree to disagree, so I'm just going to leave it at that.
