I agree, Asia Piwka's runway appearances are strange indeed. I expected her to blow up in Milan and Paris. The same with Marikka Juhler.

Karen Elson is going to Paris right now. I think it's too late for her to be at Miu Miu. She will fly from the US and in Paris it's 9pm so no time for the fitting

What about Karmen Pedaru? In Milan she missed Versace and Prada but she never did the show and in Paris she did only Balmain, Isabel Marant and Stella McCartney. Surprised she wasn't at Lanvin and Chanel....

Karmen can be selective now. She has been doing runway for years.

Now, in Karmens case she might have been busy with something else but it's not like she wasn't feeling Karl this season and decided to be 'selective'

Karl has been really strange with his Chanel castings. He's dropped a lot of his regulars just the last couple seasons. Instead we get 50+ models who are here today gone tomorrow. Budget downsizing or what?

About Karmen, yeah it's weird. I guess she's on her way out now, selective or not.

Another one who's noticeably less busy in Paris (from what I can remember) is Daria S. She still did well in NY and Milan, but I feel like she's missing shows this seasons she always walked the previous ones. Chanel for one. And Karl seemed all over her just a few months ago with those Numero eds/covers.

Monica and Frida had terrible Paris seasons (can't remember NY/Milan). Karlie seems more absent too. By choice? And what's happening to Arizona. She's in Paris. She walked for Anthony Vaccarello on the first day, but since then, she's only been attending parties and social events.

I suspect Anja will still be walking the runway when she's 70. Good for her tbh.

^Add Ginta and Anais. Its been a very very strange season. Still im thinking budget cuts. New girls save a least 10.000$ per face.

And she's opened Dior and Lanvin.

Add Irina Kulikova too, her shows are painfully sporadic. A handful of top shows and the rest are hardly even relevant.

Not dismissing the show budget factor entirely, solid point. But I also think most of these girls that keep getting brought up have established themselves in print to the point where they don't need runway. I do believe girls like Frida, Karlie, Toni, Kendra are choosing to be selective this season. I think I said in Kendra's thread, it doesn't mean we won't all see them come back and have a runway dominant season in the future. There seems to be natural ebb and flow in the modeling industry, and with them all being from relatively around the same debut seasons, I think it's completely normal. I think it's far weirder to see them being judged for every. single. show. they missed. "Why wasn't she at x show" "OMG I can't belive she didn't book x show". Etc, etc.

Am i the only one who think Daria Strokous left Paris or was shooting something? She had a stellar season before today, yes she missed Givenchy, but besided that she was everywhere.

Completely agree with ur assessment heatheranne, but 'selective' does not mean choosing a B-show over an A-show. And no model I know wants to skip anything Alber, Karl or Nicholas related. Furthermore I really dont think the Karlie's or Daria's need any runway whatsoever indeed. But there's a truckload of girls who actually need its exposure, a lot of them have been seriously underperforming this season manifesting a huge difference in visibility from last season to this one. Its true, the modeling tide giveth and taketh however this seasons casting decisions more than ever seem $-based ( with obvious exceptions to the rule).

I agree..and let's not forget certain power stylists can make a difference too, especially those who ultimately will have a say in editorial and campaign castings. Which top girl would have done a Sacai show if it wasn't styled by Karl Templer?

At the same time it seems there's an alternative 'party' scene, where girls like Arizona, Anja, Toni and Karlie are showing up and impressing/socialising with the right people there...which in the end might be more lucrative than doing shows

^ Absolutely, I noticed that too. To be honest, I would also go for champagne, gloss and networking with wealthy people.... Instead of being plagued by foot ache, sleepless nights and pathetic backstage photographers creeping around for unwrapped boobs and so on.
