Model Casting S/S 13

Marine Deleeuw - she is the best debut newcomer so far

Sofar the better "debuts";
Juliana Schurig, Asia Piwka, Marine de Leeuw, Stef vd Laan, Marikka Juhler, Irina Kravchenko, Thairine Garcia, Nastya Kusakina. Hopefully up and coming; Kayley Chabot, Agnes Nabuurs, Tamara W.

Elza, Nadja & Vanessa seem to have emerged as the true winners of last season ..

Last season's girls are not doing that well. Where is Elena Bartels and Kolfinna Kristòfersdòttir?

Elena Bartels still does not seem to have representation in New York (On top of maybe school?). I'm guessing if anything she will just come into NY as a Calvin exclusive :)

^ Elena won't be at NYFW because of Visa issues, so no Calvin tomorrow.

It looks like Daga Z and Melissa T are fading a bit. They used to walk every show. They are also walking lower level shows.

So far Karlie seems to be the NY winner with all of her opening/closing slots. The it girls delivered, Nadja/Marie/Elza/Vanessa, etc. Meghan Collison booking every top show out there, probably the blue-chip queen this season together with Kati Nescher who continued to have another amazing season, same as Julia Nobis. As for the black girls, it was a very diverse season for most of them, not as consistent as previous spring/summer seasons but pretty good in general for girls like Joan, Cora, Grace Mahary, Jourdan, Marihenny...personally i think many girls didnt live up to their campaign season expectations like Magda Laguinge, Steff, Daniela Braga..let's head to Europe and see how it goes.

Melissa Stasiuk is not doing that well either, is she?

And a lot of girls who are on their second or third year are already missing completely. Daphne, Arizona, Hailey, Juju, Julia S, Bambi, Carola, Antonina, Maddie K, Saskia, Colinne. Britt Maren - I think I saw her, but has dropped off fast too. Also, Codie Young.

For those who haven't walked NY this season at all, if it's a matter of not booking anything that's one thing, but if they're skipping it 'voluntarily' - isn't that kind of too soon? I'm sure someone like Arizona will be ok, but for most of them, doesn't seem to make sense. It really does seem that each season unless you're one of like three lucky ones who will be around 5-10 years down the road, the rest will be gone within a year or two. :(

Hailey C is missing her 2nd season-she did well editorially but she still won't be 18 by December to do VS, Daphne with a weak season last time and no Paris now skips. Where is Kendra Spears, Jacquelyn Jablonski? Just seems that this season was really hard to break out. On plus side Martha Hunt had a good fashion week and should be in the "hunt" for top newcomer.

also Kelly Mittendorf. From a Marc Jacobs closer to last time had Honor and Marc by Marc and now just Honor. She's off to London where she gets some shows but never has walked Milan or Paris.

Wylie Hays will be one to watch in Europe, I think she'll for sure grab a top newcomer spot alongside Marine Deleeuw. She's only walked 3 shows but they were all good and she opened Proenza. Wonder if we might see her at Calvin Klein tomorrow too.

I'm curious to see how Marine Deleeuw will do in Europe. Hope we'll see more of Stef van der Laan.

Other girls that have dropped off (at least in NY) : Anais Pouliot, Rosanna Georgiou, Irina Kulikova (getting booked for presentations, I mean, really?!), Romee Strijd (I think she's almost on the same level than Frida Aasen, maybe too 'special' to break out atm)...
On another side, Julia Nobis is still a runway filler. Jac seems to be back for good. Asian girl Tian Yi made a great start, too.

i know right? i'm happy for jac, although somehow she kinda lost her appeal to me (don't know why). I'll never get julia as a runway filler, she looks way to special to be a filler and always distracts me from the clothes (same with hanne-gaby who has another good season as well).

jacquelyn is in london for something work-related. don't know about kendra, but i'm suprised she skipped new york, she had such a great season last time and i think she was about to make it really big because she really stood out on the runway. maybe she'll be back in milan and paris.
i miss both of them on the catwalk, i only notice how much i like them now that they are mia.

i really miss toni.
other than that, i think franzi muellers ny season was kind of weak compared to the hype that has been surrounding her for the last couple of months.

That's the case for a couple of years now though. Or do you mean Nikolaeva or Denisova?

And I agree about Julia. She seems to be a filler, because her look is so basic.
Another one I did see coming was Josephine Skriver, who is walking Milly by Michelle Smith and the likes, and that started last season already. That plus the fact that she didn't have any significant printwork so far in her entire career.

I dont think Julia is a filler this season. I mean her last seasons she was but this season shes opening and closing shows.
And yes Jac is back. I dont know how she´ll do in Europe but NY has been good for her.

Julia will always have clients that like her. She has a tomboy look that designers like. She is not my cup of tea, but I can see why they like her. Jacquelyn and Kendra will be fine skipping NY. Bambi, Kelly M, Saskia, Jess Gold and Daphne will always be stronger in print than on the runway. I don't think they need to do runway.

^^I honestly think she still is, she walked 22 shows in NY so far with 2 openings and 3 closings, not to mention there're only A-list shows. I guess she's here to last.
^Sure, she's not my cup of tea either but for having met her, I think her tomboy-whatever-cool attitude is also something designers like to work with, as well as her extremely pale skin and her simple yet timeless beauty.
