Model Casting S/S 13

Hold up. Are we talking about the cast being completely made of newbies, or are there just a few exclusives? Please say it's the latter. Please say it's the latter.

i would actually prefer the first option. his early menswear castings consisted of boys from the streets and it worked out really well, i think. i would appreciate it if he stayed true to his roots.
i don't really get what new models 'from internet' means. like, similar to how justin bieber was discovered?

What a B-list cast so far... Why would you want Edie Campbell in your show.
I dislike him already.

She didn't even fit the vibe of this collection in my opinon. I am beyond baffled by her dominance this season.

Too true.....but this seems to happening with much more regularity.
Nothing against Julia but she is a very lacklustre runway model and yet she is everywhere. She was one of the 3 most visible models last season and I thought that was a one-off, but clearly not and designers are all over her again.

There have been some fairly bizarre casting choices this season, but I'm thrilled by the success of Iris Van Berne and Tilda Lindstam (who isn't a newbie btw, and folks should stop banging this home to anyone who'll listen), also Kinga Razjak working her runway magic yet again and newcomers Marine DeLeeuw, Marikka Juhler and Tian Yi. Also need to add the best 'catwalker' around right now the flawless Andreea Dianconu.

I'm not surprised at all about the cast at YSL. I said that I didn't think Hedi would let a cast steal the spotlight from him and seems I was right. With that said, it was still kind of disappointing with just how pedestrian it was. I don't even know if I would call it bad as much as non-special. I think I would want my debut collection to look and feel as special as I can - cast included. Instead, we have Julia Nobis opening and closing, lmao. Hanne, another big star. A bunch of who knows who. I suppose Iselin and Cat were somewhat interesting, but ehh...

how do you know julia closed? the last model at nf is a dark-haired model, can't recognize her because of her hat.

Sensational casting at Saint Laurent. :buzz::heart:

You seem to be one of the few though.

I ask myself what's so great about having fillers like Hanne, Julia, Elsa, Melissa so heavily featured, yet actual stars like Iselin and Aymeline somewhere in the middle and at the end.
And there's no excuse using socialite models like Edie or Lily, there's nothing modelesque about them.

Strange casting in Saint Laurent, I like!

So happy for Julia, she really deserved it, now she's the model of the moment (like it or not). In previous seasons she did a lot of shows but later her print work, like big campaigns or covers were not too huge. Now it's when finally she have the recognition she deserved. Her look really fit to any outfit. Oh, and I like her walk, she just walk and don't try it too hard like Karlie or Cara, I appreciated.

Yeah this season is something I wouldnt predict for Julia (since she was a filler for so many seasons) but she finally rised. I mean she had a lot of print this season and now opening so many big shows.
Amazing job!

I loved too. Girls with attitude, what I expected from Hedi.

Exactly! You may not loving Julia's walk on the catwalk, but you cannot deny that she has an amazing personality which helps her in her career!Same with Hanne.

I cannot complain about SL casting because there were no baby faces, hooray!!

Even Balenciaga succumbed to the young looking girls this season.

^This!! THANK YOU! I felt like I was alone, screaming in the desert. And yes I'm sure she's really cool with the skateboard and the guitar but I bet a bag of potatoes has more emotive power in print.

And double yes to Iris van Berne, stealth killing it..

Sensational casting at Saint Laurent. :buzz::heart:

Youre totally kidding right?! I guess it could have been worse, but 'sensational' is seriously reaching...

^Really? I admit that her walk is not the best, but her print work is really amazing, she really conveys emotions , Julia is chameleon: as fragile and classically woman, androgynous, feminine (didnt' see that since Meghan Collison)... Unique and different than the others. That's why I became interested in her. I find it funny and absurd to read stupid things like that |o|

^Let's not go there, stupidity is subjective. Good for you, she is everywhere.

:D

got tired to see the same faces all over again, even the ones I like, got bored to see them show after show... Pickin mostly girls that haven't been seen everywhere gave an identity to SLP collection, and was nice picks to me since many of them did really fit it, many angular and slightly androgynous faces, and yay for Cat and Alison Nix

oh,and triple yes to Iris...

Julia is basically the new Freja. She's very versatile and and her look works for basically all the brands and all styles. Plus she has that "cool girl" attitude that they all want.
