Model Name Pronunciation

^well actually with Roslyakova the emphasis is on the third syllable (Ros-lya-ko-va). and Kocianova is more of a Ko-cia-nova.

This is the Russian pronounciation, and she's from Belarus. Her surname is Дзягілева and that's why she's called Dziahileva in English (Dzyah-heel-yeh-vah; 'dz' as 'ds' in 'odds')

I saw a video not too long ago in which Tanya says her surname as Dyagileva.

^ She actually knows Russian better than Belorussian (I have no idea why) so that's probably why she said so. :flower:

That's what I wrote.

Agree, the emphasis is on the second syllable.

Probably because Russian is one of Belarus' official languages and I think many Belarussians actually speak Russian better than Belarussian (Russian is often used in newspapers, on tv etc.) Still her 'official' surname is Dziahileva.

I always assumed that Iris Stubeggers name was pronounced eye-ris (i'm no good at phonetics so I won't even try), but it's the other way of pronouncing I:ermm:

How do you pronunce Sophie Srej?
And I know this has been mentioned, but is Snejana's pronunciation with j as in jacuzzi or j as a y?

Also the label Givenchy - lot of my friends pronunce it like: Geh-weh-n-shi, but I hope it's just the french pronunciation?)

I've been wondering about this too! :D But in this video Isabel Marant pronounces it as 'Snej-ahna', so hope that answers your question!

Givenchy is pronounced 'zhee-von-shee' btw.

Srej with Y

I never knew the correct pronunciation of Monika's surname until I read this on Frockwriter:
And FYI "Yag-a-chiak" is the correct pronunciation of Jac's surname. I checked with Australia's Polish Chamber of Commerce.

How do you pronounce Edita's last name? When i try it comes out like 'Vickysandershoot' :(

I'm not Lithuanian, but I have been saying it like Vil-ku-vee-chyoo-teh...hope that helps!

I think there´s a video in models.com where she "officialy" explains her last name. ^_^
