Models with LiveJournals, MySpaces, etc...

Without extras costs to keep in touch with friends and family, isn't that what the civilized countries call it "Email?"

^^ I completely understand what you're saying. I understand that there is virtually no privacy on the internet. However, all I'm saying is that I think as a fashion community here on tfs, I think we should do our best to respect their privacy.

Just because theres no privacy on the internet doesn't me we should stoop to a low level and go posting their pics/information all over public forums.

Exactly. And unlike MySpace, you can pick and choose who sees a new picture or piece of information. Or, you can send out a huge email to everyone in your address book. Problem solved.

And again, it is not an invasion of privacy. Spying on someone in the shower is an invasion of privacy. Looking at someone's mail is an invasion of privacy. Reading someone's medical records is an invasion of privacy. Videotaping someone without their knowledge is an invasion of privacy.

Looking at or posting a link to a public MySpace page is NOT an invasion of privacy. That idea is ludicrous.

I suppose some people understand about the internet and some don't.

^um no..i understand the internet completely.......

i disagree that its "acceptable" to barge into these girls space

^ Erm, if someone chooses to make their page public, how exactly does one "barge" onto it. I mean, the key word is public. Something that is public is not private.

^ok obviously no matter how many times i try to get my point across ur not going to get it.

its just not respectful to go through someones myspace and go posting all their info and pictures on other sites without their permission. period.

^ will, you are entitled to those opinions. But I hardly believe a lot of the members from tFS as you say "BARGE IN". Most are loveing fans and they do right by "asking" to be a part of their MySpace community. That's how I feel about that...

^actually I've seen many members on this community proceed to posting many private pictures of models without their permission.

In one thread, the actual model member posted pleading for a moderator to delete the pictures that were posted because she was so unhappy that someone had stolen them like that!

No, I "get" it. But, I don't think it's an argument that really holds water. If that were the case, we would all email photographers, image banks and magazine websites asking for image use permission. But, we don't. There is nothing stopping people from looking at someone's public MySpace page (and there shouldn't be, that would defeat the entire purpose of networking sites) or even posting public pictures. It annoys the crap out of me when people get all offended and bash someone for posting MySpace pics that are viewable to the entire free world anyway.

I do agree about pictures from private MySpaces though. That's why you make your page private if you don't want others to see your pictures!

I do agree with you there. Especially knowing that some of those pictures are very private, only the owner has taken those pictures directly from their own cameras. It's not right to take those pictures without permisson. ^_^

However many sites a lot of the models post their work. They want to share to the public who they are what they do and what they have accomplished in their career. Those editorials I'm pretty sure they have got it from other sources as well, let's say sites like tFS? :innocent: It's what people do. It's public sharing for those editorials once it has been posted. And fortunatly the good people of tFS do give their source.

And yes, in many other cases, models want to have a little fun, make a MySpace account to past the time keep in touch with friends, families or even to make new friends. After all, they aren't that different from the rest of us. Well, maybe except for the fact they are super tall, skinny and gorgeous. :p:lol:

^its a totally different scenario if models post the pics themselves. and I'm not talking about editorial work, i'm talking about personal pictures of models with their friends, family, etc. that they often have on their private myspaces or facebooks.

ask yourself this.
how would you feel if you signed on to tfs one day and saw that someone had posted pictures from your myspace/facebook of you partying or with your friends without your PERMISSION

i know personally..i would be extremely angry.

so...now think of how the models must feel.

^Yes, just because they are more famous does not mean we have right to take photos that are belonging to them.

When I say invasion of privacy I mean when people ask to be their friend just to look at their pictures and post them on other web sites...

JAKEEE ^ I'm agreeing with you about personal pictures...please read carefully what I wrote on the first paragraph.

I get what your saying. And I would be put off myself if someone did that with my private pictures. However it's inevitable. There are people with poor character poor judgements. And once they get a hold of those private pictures the control is pretty much out of those models' hands. It's truely a judgement call in their part (models) who they allow into their MySpace account. Even though these things happen places like MySpace and LiveJournal is open to public...personally if I don't want people to know some of my personal affairs I for one wouldn't post it.

Blah I wish I had the courage to 'friend' some of these girls who have facebooks. But I'm sure they get tons of random people trying to add them.
