Harrods' Designer Disney Princess Dresses Unveiled

23 October 2012
Sarah Karmali

HARRODS' Christmas windows will be taken over by a designer Disney Princess display this year - and we have a preview of the beautiful gowns set to go on show. Some of the biggest names in fashion have created their imaginings of the iconic fairy tale dresses, which will grace the iconic Knightsbridge store's windows next month.

Click through our gallery on the left to see Oscar de la Renta's version of Snow White's dress; Valentino's take on Belle's ballgown; and Versace's tribute to Cinderella. It doesn't stop there - Marchesa has given Ariel a makeover and Elie Saab has recreated Sleeping Beauty's dress, while Rapunzel has been styled by Jenny Packham.

The display coincides with a 7,000 square-foot Disney Princess pop-up boutique on the fourth floor of the store, open now. The Harrods Christmas windows will be unveiled on Thursday November 1, 2012.

What is this ? Anyway...I love Missoni, Cavalli and Saab.
Cant ODLR take it more literal?

lol Cinderella and versace doesn't seem like the perfect match...maybe elie saab in my opinion would have made more sense...

Ugh, Disney seems to be getting a lot of X-mas attention. Barneys is doing couture Mickey and Minnies...

Eeewwwww!!!!

This gets the award for tackiest piece of sh*t Ive seen for 2012!

If the mayans were not right Imma end my misery come 2013 if this crap keeps popping out.

It is the WORST! It doesnt even work on a kitschy way!

They should have done it with more intellectual designers (though I guess, they wouldnt jump into the chance) and picked another photog.

Who came up with this idea and who in their right mind greenlit it? So derivative!

Im not only disgusted, but pissed off about such a waste!

The Jenny Packham design looks the best to me.. the rest just look plucked from previous collections.
And my god they should have got Tim Walker to do the shoot - imagine.

omfg

poor Cinderella! she looks like an 80s reject

and of course Marchesa fail at doing some appropriate for Ariel. they could have paid a BIT more attention to Ariel's color scheme...

Harrods knows we need more women with a princess complex..

I think you've hit the nail on the head. :flower: Good lord, most of these designs are pretty awful. I've never been a fan of Disney's Cinderella but they've actually made me feel sorry for her. The gown they choose to "embody her" is tragic.

Cinderella by Versace looked really nice in the sketch, but looks awful in that picture. Yikes.

There was literally no 'designing' involved for Oscar's Snow White.

The concept sounds cute and the sketches are pretty but the execution is...meh

I agreed the concept is intrigued but the execution wasnt that translated.

some of the fabrics in the final pieces leave alot to be desired

Seriously. This is... beyond kitsch?
And some of the designs / final results are even worse than the idea itself.
I'm curious about the Misson and Jenny Packham ones cause they're the only ones who look remotely interesting

I think Disney should have worked more closely with the designers and have more of a considered collab. Disney is known for their fake OTT superrealismglam.

This could have benefited from a guiding hand to get a cohesive outcome.

Thats the trouble when you give loads of designers the same brief, the final outcome if so varied, it doesnt always work when put together.
