Moon Young Hee F/W 06.07 Paris

Thx, Scott! (I think we share similar view of aesthetics.)
Luv it. Much better than the big brands.

that is definitely a female korean name.

i'm not sure about some of the voluminous jackets, though =/
definitely loving the rest

I'm glad someone posted these, Scott :> I can always count on you to not let the lesser known collections slip by

Moon Young Hee has been a fashion designer in Korea for probably around two decades or more. I'd have to do more research on this to verify but I remember seeing a documentary about her on a Korean tv about three years ago. She has been showing in Paris since the mid or late 90's, I believe. I will try to find something more on her and post later.

Wow, she is really amazing. I love the white oulfit.

Are her things for sale in the states or the UK?

moon young hee is a sister brand/diffusion/offspring (however you call it) of lee young hee... not sure about the history or who's behind the brand but they must be big in Korea.. and do decent biz in europe.. with little exposure, the brand survives years in the fashion industry and continues to show in Paris since the early 90's It is not easy for a foreign brand to establish well in Europe especailly in Paris and gain acceptance. Same goes with Yuki Tori... a japanese designer who shows in Paris

Moon Young Hee and Lee Young Hee are not related and as far as I know they are two completely different business entities.

I found Moon Young Hee's profile on Korea Fashion Association website: link

It's in Korean and unfortunately the website doesn't have a translated version posted up.
Here's a very short translation of the most basic facts.

1986 Finished Fashion Design Graduate Program from Ewha Women's University

1974 Launched "MOON BOUTIQUE"

1994 Launched S.A.R.L Moon Young Hee Paris as well as K&M Corp.

1996 and onward: Participates in Paris Fashion Week

I also found an approximately 50 minutes long TV documentary file wich was
shown on Korea Broadcasting System network with original broadcasting
date of 3/15/2004.

You need Windows Media Player to view this.
Goto File and click on Open URL then copy and paste:

mms://a1284.v13880e.c13880.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1284/13880/v0001/condenetin1.download.akamai.com/13880/parties/071906chlo/071906chlo.wmv

This is in Korean and no subtitles are available at the moment. But I think it's
worthwhile to take a look.

Here's brief summary. It's about Moon Young Hee's preparation for A/W 2004
collection. It follows her around in Paris where she's doing casting and fittings
of models in her studio, her husband and children are filmed as well, how she
does her research by looking up old archives in French libraries, etc.
There's also interview of her where she says she moved her well established
business to Paris and started out fresh in 1995.

I've watched this quite a while ago so my memory is somewhat sketchy but I
remember that it was very enjoyable. Again, it's just too bad there's no
translation available.

^ Sorry I gave out the wrong file address for the said documentary.

Here's the correct one: link

Is there some way to edit my previous post?
