MOTIVATION for drinking water!!!

Just a warning - our science teacher forwarded an email to us from a health board, warning against the over-usage of plastic bottles. Apparently if you use them more than 2 or 3 times (refill) the plastic releases toxic cancer-causing chemicals, as the plastic from mizone, H2Go etc bottles are only intended for one use. I'm terrible with my water intake, I can't remember the last time I had over 3 glasses in one day, but this thread has definitely motivated me!! Bring on the good skin- I so hope it works! I know Jessica Alba drinks 3 or 4 litres a day..

really?! :o

Oh of course! And beware of those sports bottles that you often get free with stuff -I got one with my free gym kit when I joined. If they smell like chemicals, throw them away. The chemical will leach into the water. Ugh and the water tasted gross too.

I'm with Golden on the too much water thing. Just look what they have to say on wikipedia, under the 'marathon' page about drinking whilst running.

Why do anything to excess?

I don't think drinking water benefits your skin. I did a research and found out foods that you eat helps to keep your skin healthy, and helps to moisturize your skin. (Vegetables, fruits, whole wheat foods) Using moisturizing creams helps too. By using creams, the skin will keep smooth and help it to look supple. Always wear sunblock wherever you go. Even if it is to go to your nearest grocery store. It will benefit you from pre-maturing of your skin. Important too, have minimal sun exposure. I can't express enough on this, because my father, who loves to work out in his garden, have had multiple amounts of skin cancers removed from him. My sister who is only 31, she is now showing signes of lesions from too much sun exposure. Smoking and drinking alcohol can diffinetly affect how your skin looks, so try to stay away from those as well. Drinking water is great, no doubt, because your body needs it for cooling, and to keep you hydrated, but thinking that by drinking water, somehow that will benefit your skin is false hope. :D :flower:

True Bodhi. I think fruit is the way to go. That and excercise that gets you sweating is foolproof.

I'm glad I clicked on this thread and read the thing about the bottles..

same here! i use bottles several times after...now ill definately cut down.

my motivation right now is that it is blazing hot almost all day here....its unbearable.

drink water because your body seriously needs it! Not just for your skin but your entire digestive system, your blood, the your hair, nails, everything! You'd be surprised how much water we lose throughout the day...so please everyone increase your water intake...even if you don't like it....add a little something extra to your water to make it palatable (like Crystal light packets or something.....)

The plastic bottle thingie - does that apply to the common water bottles you buy in the store? Like for example evian - is it unsafe to reuse those kinds of bottles?

I started keeping track of how much water I drink because I bought a water "jug" that holds 1.89 litres of water. I fill it up on average twice a day total with bottle water. I've heard alot of different amounts on how much water you're suppose to drink in a day

Go to your local store and find 'freezer fruit'. Its fresh fruit, berries, mango etc that has been snap frozen. Then shove it into your blender with water and enjoy. Alternate between that and water and you'll easily get the daily intake of not only fruit, but water too. :3

Regarding the reusing water bottles thing. Wouldn't the plastic decompose into the water that's sold along with the bottle? I mean, when you buy bottles of water, you don't know how long they've been in the store, so chances are, whatever the damage that can be done, was already done?

I don't know if this has been mentioned already but how about flavoured water? It's really nice and you can get loads of different flavours, I don't really like water, but since discovering flavoured water I can't stop drinking it!!

i'm with you on the flavored water! i have to have flavor...i try to be good and just put a slice of lime or orange or lemon on the side of the glass, but i love having calorie free iced tea. arizona or lipton to go (a powder, comes in flavors like mango green tea, is made w/ splenda, and has gobs of antioxidants).

Putting cucumber into a cold drink is really refreshing, and you get to eat all of it after. Yum yum yum...
