New Site
Here is a link to a site that I set up on Harley Newton.
http://community.livejournal.com/heavenly_harley/ for people who appreciate her style - since posting on tfs about Harley seems to be akin to bringing the world to an end.
But on a serious note,I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I can respect that but I've found myself taken aback at the harsh comments and bullyish remarks made on this thread. I didn't think tfs found this type of behaviour acceptable...
I'm not a fan of Paris Hilton but I do not waste my time posting intimidating posts on her thread to antagonise members who do like her style. And unfortunately some MODS have found it difficult to focus the thread on the talk of style, but instead seem to be discriminative about a person because they are "rich" or "well-connected" and it's created a very nasty atmosphere in which some people feel unable to post as they might be attacked and that isn't how a thread should be, no matter what view point you may have.
The internet is changing things, and in a way these blogs and myspaces are democratizing style. Before we only really had "celebrities" who were a focal point when it came to style and trendsetting, as they were universally featured in magazines and tv - someone in Korea will know Kate Moss, just as much as someone in Germany.
Now the internet allows anyone, with a computer and a camera, to show their style to the whole world. No they aren't famous, but style is not exclusive to celebrities. And why should that not be celebrated? Why should the media dictate what/who the masses should be looking to for inspiration? Why can't we turn around to each other and say I really admire your style?
I often see tfs not only as a place to appreciate "style icons" that I admire with other members, but it's also a place to
discover new "style icons" that I may never have come across otherwise. To share.
It was perhaps too soon to start a thread on one of these "internet" stars,(although there are threads on similar people in the star style section - namely cory kennedy

), but something will have to give soon here, you can tell just by the strong discussion the thread has started and by the huge hits it has received in such a short space of time.
I hope that makes sense, as I've had a long day and am extremely tired...
