Naomi Campbell

yep I agree  Well we still don't know, but maybe she will be cast in their F/W campaign. wishful thinking

They got alot of press for that and the stars came out for it as well....thats attributed to Naomi's star power of course. So its funny that they haven't gone to the next step. Although it was cool what they did I've always thought of them the same way I think of someone like Donatella....put it together:innocent:,jokes!

Donatella is weird anyway

isn't she still part of the d&g perfume campaign? she's been doing that for dolce and gabbana for a couple of years now.

^^Well I dont know about all that...I'm just referring to how she runs her company and how I dont see alot of diversity.

^Do you see what I'm getting at?! Do you see their patterns! BTW,it counts to me I think of it as a campaign she was with a group but solo in a shot or two.

I was talking about a solo campaign, lol so that D&G one doesn't really count.

well then you should have mentioned that.

and some companies tend to always have bunch of models in their campaigns anyway. gucci, dkny, dolce and gabbana -- look at their recent campaigns and you'll see a bunch of models, not a solo girl.

Sorry i should have been more specific..:flower:

I will pass out if they use a black woman in a solo ad campaign!

I'm not saying Naomi doesn't have ads now(no one should go there)...cuz the woman has more than any other minority model. My point is....the 1990s were more open when it came to fashion and other entertainment circles. Now its like everything is the same. There are many good models of color out right now but they dont get as many opportunities as they should. Although she is Naomi she isn't fully immune to that plus she now has ageism working against her too. I mean if I didn't grow up in another time I wouldn't know that things were ever different. I would love to open a fashion magazine and see a wider range of women(and I'm not just talking race) like I once did but its not happening....don't know when it will change.

Very true...

Its funny because you'd think it would be easier for models of color now but that doesn't seem to be the case, just look at Jourdan Dunn she should of had at least half a dozen campaigns by now. And then you look at models like her good friend Karlie Kloss and the amount of campaign's she had, and i could have sworn they started around the same time. Smh

Its funny you mentioned girls like JD b/c I see that with Naomi's contemporaries than & now...I'm not saying names. And people wonder why Naomi says the things she does and why she can't just walk away from the game. Without her I mean....wow....crickets! We still need someone like her and I wish that people would open their eyes more....the fans/buyers and the image makers!

!!!!! And that's another reason why people don't like her is because speaks the truth!!! Even Stevie Wonder can see that the fashion industry is still shady, but people like to dismiss her because of the things they read about her in the media.

^Preach! I am excited in a way about seeing all the new minority girls but its like what are they gonna do with them?! She hinted that b/c of the group now she doesn't feel as pressured to keep it going BUT we still need her and I dont want her to just chill(I know its a selfish thing for me to say...she's worked for so long). If they learn nothing else from her they need to pick up on her resilience...get some of that fire! There is always work to do...you can't just give up after a few years,be a fly on a wall or not stay on your A-game b/c you never know when you are next in line. You gotta get them to notice you b/c they rarely do normally. It is hard work but it can be done and hey maybe they can change the game more & do things that she hasn't.

I hope she doesn't retire for a very long time to come because truth be told i would find the fashion industry very boring without her lol!!! I think she still has a lot work to do when it comes to models of ethnic minority cuz theres still soooo many good models getting overlooked; and i think in time she can change that.

I think the media have done a good job of fooling people tryna make them think there's nothing wrong with the fashion industry and that everything is fine as it is when its clearly not, smh

She's definitely done alot but no one person can do it alone...that pressure has been on her since the 90s. Its too much! Yes we still need her for all models/the game in general especially the minority side. But she's slowing down now & in love and if she walks away tomorrow she's done her gig! She's done it like no one else. No one works harder & longer! Some it seems try to downplay it or overshadow it with b/s stories but at the end of the day she is so important and very smart. I appreciate her for her being her and it would be sad to me if she left but everyone deserves a rest or to move on. I wish for more fairness & diversity in all media not just fashion b/c its suffering without it IMO!
