Free Arts NYC Auction
June 14, 2005
"There are quite a few that I've got my eye on," said Naomi Watts with a wink at Wednesday's gala for Free Arts NYC. The elegant Aussie, fresh from wrapping King Kong in New Zealand, wasn't ogling cater-waiters. Rather, she was admiring photographs by Andres Serrano, Sante D'Orazio, and Sylvie Fleury, among other items up for auction at the Phillips, de Pury & Co. gallery in Chelsea. Watts lost her bids, but she did contribute $5,000 to the charity, which provides creative outlets for abused and neglected children.
"Naomi has been very gracious," said stylist and mother-to-be Mary Alice Stephenson, whose efforts with fellow board member Amy Sacco helped the evening raise $514,000. "She really impressed me."
