Thanks for posting, Ed :flower: I do have a question ... is the Lanvin trunk show both clothes & jewelry?

Edk,or anybody who goes to the trunk shows, do you mind asking the price for a couple of pieces of items? (unfortunately all of the shows are in business days so I can't come down to NYC). I'll order them soon if the prices are not too crazy.
1. the Balenciaga Tshirt
2. Balenciaga pant suit
3. Lanvin dress
Pictures are attached. Thank you.

What exactly is a trunk show....

A trunk show is an event that you can try the latest clothes right off runway and pre-order them. In that way, you are certain that you will get what you want, in your size, before the goods hit the stores.

Oct 31 and Nov 1 Balenciaga

Nov 3 and 4 Derek Lam

I think i ll chatch these two.:p

İ ll ask the prices for the things you asked caffeine

Thank you so much honey!

thx for the dates ed...
just remember guys that i went to the dries trunk show and never received my items...:(

and neither did my friend...
never even got a phone call...:ermm:

^
really?

So they don't guarantee them then? And you don't pay in advance? What hooey!

you pay half in advance and the rest when it comes in...
and i never had such an experience...

it was pretty annoying...

anyway...
seems like this might belong in shop til you drop...;)

Caffeine ill try to let you know as soon as the time nears unfortunately the only people who know how much they cost is the buyers. and Softgrey I work there right now, and I realized that Barneys has some issues with reserves with trunk shows. when new shipments come a lot of sales associates just pull the merchandise for their own clients without even bothering to check the reserve lists to see if it has been pre ordered by someone. =/ They are regulating this issue now though so i dont think it will happen again.

I think its everything within the collection. but Lanvin jewelry is ridiculously expensive that it just makes no sense. For this current season they have these big round pearl necklaces that are intertwined in some black fabric and they go for like 1,000-2,000. crazy..... not to mention how much the ready to wear costs.... sheesh there is this fur coat thats like 16,000. However ill find out for sure tomorrow, ill ask the trunk show coordinator.

Those Lanvin prices definitely aren't for the faint of heart...sounds interesting. Maybe I'll run into you when/if I stop at Barneys in November, how funny would that be. The meeting of two arch-nemesis!

soft...
did they refund you the half you paid up front...?.......

Yeah,I think this is best suited for Shop Till you drop too.

After hearing Softie's horror story,I don't think I'd be inclined to go this route.

I'll be there too!

I would like to make it to:

Oct 31 and Nov 1 Balenciaga

Nov 3 and 4 Derek Lam

Nov 7 and 8 Lanvin

Nov 15 and 16 Proenza Schouler

but I really want to see Lanvin.

Caffeine, I've been eyeing that dress too. It's gorgeous and I know I'll get a lot of use out of it.

EdK, do they have trunk shows for resort collections? I've never seen one but I was wondering how Barney's does it. Also, do you know when the resort stuff starts coming in?

Softgrey, I agree with you about the Barney's SAs... you really have to be on top them to get what you want. I would ask them to call me when something comes in but never hear from them.. I'm talking about most though, not all.... some are really nice and extremely helpful but those SAs are rare in my experience.

Btw, if anyone is interested in Marc Jacobs (not sure why you would be, but JIC :p), you can pre-order through his stores' trunk shows, which will probably take place sooner. Also, they do not ask for any $$$$ upfront, and they do call you when things come in.

Softgrey, very discouraging to hear of your experience  Were you able to get your hands on the pieces eventually, or did you have to give up?
