I think the 'nude' colored tank top is kind of the idea. I love the whole look and play of color. It's very tempting sometimes to try and go with that color, just because it's so different. I think wearing a rust colored blazer definitely softened the look of the skin-color shirt

I like the contrast/juxtaposition between the orange cropped jacket and her lovely red hair :) And oh yes the boots are fabulous...

"Elizabeth Ammerman"

When I first saw Elizabeth, she was walking really fast from Mercer towards Broadway. "Gareth Pugh's?" I said as I motioned to her shoes. "Yeah," she said. "And I'll bet you are on a break right now headed for something to eat..." I stated. "Yeah," she motioned. "You look fantastic, I love the cape! Do you mind if I take a quick picture for my street fashion site?" Soon, we were walking back to where she came from and making some photos.

"Lia Vardy"

Meet Lia Vardy, an amazing "Do It Yourselfer"

pants -- from Italy
shoes -- vintage canvas mary janes

She actually self modified the lace top by adding the curved black pieces and she made the straps herself.
Check out the unzipped zipper ring on her ring finger!

Eugenia Borkowski style is effortless and simple. I love the overall look with the exception of the top. It clashes with her skin tone a bit if the top were a shade or two darker it would work. I really love the boots and sweater.

I dont really visit this thread much, but ive flicked through a few pages & i really like the easy going NY style.

^ am i missing something here? that photo is just so boring... i'd wear that to slob around studying....

not understanding the Sart these days :innocent:

I agree. I saw that pic and thought nothing special. I dress like that almost every day when I don't have to dress up.

The problem is, it just doesn't look like *style* to me.

It looks slobby. Wierd posing + hipster expressions....like i said, not getting the Sartorialist these days.

Ah, yes. I see what you're saying about hipsters. Or even scene-sters. I don't really get the difference between the two, but the style we once had becomes effortless that everyone can do it. When a fashion becomes easy to do, is it no longer fashion forward when everyone does it?

^ i'm not sure papa!

but no, i can't say I particularly love the hipster/scenester look (can't tell the difference either! lol)

I do love the effortless look, but imo the hipster look is fake, put-on "effortless" with apostrophes, because i can't help but get the feeling from the photo they probably practiced their *cool-hipster-stare* and their *hipster-slouch* and they "effortless" *hipster draping* in the mirror for hours.

imo, there's true effortless and it just looks natural and right and there's bland and boring (while being pretentiously so).
