We're going there this Summer with my family.
I'm mainly interested in denim brands and maybe some not too expensive shops.
Any info is appreciated.

There's a Galaries Lafayettes in Nice, but that was about everything I can remember clothing wise (not that they don't have much stuff, but I've been on a school trip, not even one day for the city)

Well and Monaco: I think most things there are overpriced, since I had to pay 3€ for a small bottle of mineral water:doh: but I've only spent some hours there, so there could be a (big) chance that I'm totally wrong concerning fashion. maybe send a pm to layla since she lives in monaco :flower:

you have to go on the 'zone pietonne', it's a street where cars can't go and you have all those little stores including trendy stores with jeans ( in France I think their fav. designer jeans are by Temps des cerises). Otherwise anything else is on rue jean medecin ( HM, Zara, Galeries lafayette, Nice etoile -big mall- and some toher smaller stores)
For Monaco, everything is around the Casino, it's a very small city, you won't have any pb finding anything.

I was in Monaco several years ago and i remember they had a small Prada shop and they had amazing sales, I still regret not buying anything. As one person said, it's a small place and you will find everything easily.

If you are still waiting to go to Nice & Monaco, I might have a few tips (I live in France & work in Monaco).
I am personally not a huge fan of Nice, but if you are going shopping there, head for the old town for some quirky shops.

In Monaco, you will find all the big designers shops there but there are also some of the usual high street brands like zara (the products they stock are completely different from what you find in the uk!) Also try the centre commerciale le metropole.

If you have time -go to Cannes for shopping, big labels are on the croisette, high street stores are on rue d'antibes. Cannes has a nicer atmosphere than Nice and is smaller so you can find you way around the shops more easily. (Have a wander down some of the side streets for some of the more unique shops.)

There is a designer outlet just after you travel into Italy from France on the motorway -I havn't been but have heard that it is worth a trip!

Thank you for all the input!

After visiting Monaco here's my two cents - there are big Hermes, Prada, Celine, Louis Vuitton, Dior boutiques..there is also a shop which I liked the most which was in the Metropole shopping centre..it was on the ground floor and it stocked things like Alexander McQueen, some Stella McCartney and I managed to find some Acne jeans there, too.

^ Yes...Espace Mirage...it's called... That shop chose best pieces from fall 2006... Missoni, Ysl, Lanvin, Givenchy, Dsquared...etc.

brilliant shopping can de done here in MONACO.

i always find everything i cannot find anywhere else and prices are often better too. also service is still much better than anywhere else ive shopped..

you've got anything from CHLOE to Zara. The Lanvin boutique is great cos its still the old decor so somehow it feels more authentic..

espace mirage is right now the best in carrying the most renowned brands at the moment.

however, his mark up often goes to x4 so i would be very careful.

he opened another espace mirage on the 1st floor and stocks brands like McQ, Paul and Joe, Daslu, Marc by Marc, K Jacques, etc

the only thing we do not have here is a really good shoe shop so for now i would buy them at espace mirage as he stocks ALAIA and some others...

have fun!!

thanks for the info leyla!

so..i think i may be working in nice in july and august..is it a fashion desert?

no problem!!

well nice has an H&M which IMO is great to have anywhere you live// even though i've only been once when it first opened and it was bad. but now they have the better lines..

then there is espace harroch, in the zone pietonne, opposite chanel.
thats where i buy my dyptique candles. they also stock balenciaga, givenchy, etc.
i quite like the zone pietonne, it has some high end shops but also some decent sneaker shops.

will try and think of more.

Im going to Nice, Vence & Monaco this summer, visiting family. So glad I found this, Leyla...anything pour homme?

Im gonna try to squeeze in Paris, even if I take the TRV or whatever for a day, it'll be worth it.

i don't remember Nice much, we only visited the city in the morning and went to Monaco in the afternoon. i've always wanted to go there (Monaco), it started with a Casiraghi family obsession n then i was just so attracted to the place i had to go!!
the little i saw of Nice was very pretty tho. i suggest going in the summer!
