:shock:A clip from the Nico Icon play...i think it looks horrible! Wha do you guys think?
She needs to think about nuclear war, or something, while singing The End--if she wants to capture half the morbidity that Nico manages. As it is, she sounds laughable...

Did anyone see her in "La Dolce Vita"? She was incredibly beautiful!!

Yes, I saw this movie. Indeed she was beautifull!

I thought someone posted an article about the play on here, that's how i heard about it, i thought. I don't get that introduction either. And couldn't they get a foot pump harmonium? They have them on ebay all the time, the hand pump looks so awkward. And her hair is so wrong! It looks like a wig someone would wear in the sixties or something! And those pants are way too tight.

I loved Nico in La Dolce Vita. I think she stole the movie because she had a small but crucial role. I love when she's talking in "eskimo" in the car.

Oh lord, another clip of the Nico Icon play. Even worse!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xFA_tywhCDc

First of all, Nico never sung Venus In Furs or Sunday morning. She was going to sing Sunday Morning but Lou Reed recorded it behind her back in a more girly voice than Nico could ever do. And she didn't say, "sorry lou i don't f*ck Jews anymore," she just casually said, "I cannot make love to Jews anymore" out of nowhere! that's why is was great, she just said it not directing it at Lou (though it was obviously to him). Man, where i first heard about this play i thought it was going to be good.

Here are some clips from Chelsea Girls!

I agree  that was very awkward looking.

What is with this play? I thought it would be more than bad karaoke. I was excited when I first heard of it too. I thought it would be a song or two perhaps, but more acting. She did so many things and met so many interesting people. I haven't seen any of that from the clips i've viewed so far. Nico did not sing those songs, why even put that in there when there was so much material to work with? This lady's voice sounds really forced as well, she tried too hard to get Nico's accent.

Thanks for the other videos Babydoll. Nico looked absolutely stunning in Chelsea Girls, what a beauty! Was she crying in the first clip?

She was crying, they show part of that in Nico Icon while Jackson Browne reads his poem about her. I agree that with all that material to work with why put in so many songs? And one's that she didn't even sing! What's the point of that? I really don't get it. I hope they put more clips of Nico on youtube with more acting than singing. I'm curious if the acting is as bad as the singing!

Do you know if there anywhere online you can read that poem? I'm curious about it's content now.

I hope they put a few more clips from the play up. We saw about 15 minutes so far. How long do you think the play is? I would guess around an hour.

They have a myspace page for this play http://www.myspace.com/nicoiconplay

I guess they do perfom more songs. Funny that it's on a double billing with the movie Factory Girl. I have a feeling I would leave that theatre annoyed.

Song List for NICOICONPLAY Keep it with MIne...Bob Dylan Venus IN Furs...Velvet Underground Sunday Morning...Velvet Underground Europian Son...Velvet Underground Frozen Warnings...Paffgen/Cale All Tomorrows Parties...Acapella Niebeulungen...Rework, Harmonium Saeta...Paffgen The End...Morrison Alone...Paffgen/Grundy

Here's the poem he wrote. It was turned into a song but it's only on one dvd of his. The Dom where Nico sang in the 60's with the VU and solo was on St marks street. Apparently someone kept calling Nico and hanging up the phone and she accused Jacson Browne of doing it so she told him to leave New York and he wrote this on the bus ride back to California.

The Birds of St. Marks by Jackson Browne

Oh how sadly sound the songs the queen must sing of dying
A prisoner upon her throne of melancholy sighing
If she could see her mirror now
She would be free of those who bow and
Scrape the ground before her feet

Silently she walks among her dying midnight roses
Watches as each moment goes that never really know us
And so it seems she doesn't care
If she has dreams of no one there
Within the shadows of her room

But all my frozen words agree, and say it's time to
Call back, all the birds I sent to
Fly behind her castle walls, and I'm
Weary of the nights I've seen
Inside these empty halls

Wooden lady turn and turn among my weary secrets
And wave within the hours past and other empty pockets
Maybe we've found what we have lost
When we've unwound so many crossed entangling
Misunderstandings; but

All my frozen words agree and say it's time to
Call back all the birds I sent to
Fly behind her castle walls, and I'm
Weary of the nights I've seen
Inside these empty walls

Wow, what a beautiful poem! I love it.

By the way, thanks for all the great videos! And I agree with you, the Nico Icon play is horrible. Moreover, Nico is irreplaceable.

Beautifull love story and poem. I remember reading that Jackson Brown was in awe and in love with Nico. If I stand correct he was very young when they met (around 19), an unknown poet and songwriter back then. She was older than him as the story goes...

He was very young, he was 16! Tim Buckley was playing guitar for Nico and he knew Jackson Browne and introduced them because Nico needed someone to play guitar when she recorded.

Thanks for posting that Babydoll :flower: That was a beautiful poem. He certainly seemed enamored with Nico.

Nico scans all from the Warhol Look. Sorry if there are any reposts
