Nicolas Ghesquière - Designer, Creative Director of Louis Vuitton

I think he refers to the new SS25 Biker bag, that leather looks so low quality...

The quality at Vuitton, particularly Vuitton leather is really untouchable so…
In general, LVMH brands are rather consistent with the quality of their bags. The top 5 brands are great in that department.

The issues are more moral on certain aspect than quality or even designs.

My SA sent this bag infos to me. They are pushing it but I actually think it would work better in a bigger size. Let’s see if NG push it again for FW2025.

it takes a much much better quality leather to leave it with this finish... almost no fake plastic coating.
The blue version gives me huge Saffiano plastic vibes honestly, made with low level cowhide (split leather or even PU leather) and then covered with heavy thick finish. The black version looks much better and in general more elevated and luxurious, blue is a bit "fashion victim"...

Hi Lola, What is your opinion about LV womenswear, do you think their prices worth it ? ( in comparison with Dior, Bottega, Prada, Gucci etc ).

As someone who started to really buy LV RTW 10 years ago, even if the prices are now very expensive, I’m rather good with LV Womenswear.

I really think that it’s a matter of style when you compare all the brands. Besides the tacky offering with logos everywhere, the quality is great.

In terms of pricing, it’s very expensive. 10 years ago, I would buy 3 pieces a season, now it’s 1. But it’s really similar to Dior and others, while cheaper than Chanel. Celine and Loewe or Fendi are cheaper.

But for me, LV is really for special pieces. NG is really good at pants, outerwear and mini dresses. So for those it’s always OK but when you are willing to spend more than 1000 eur on a piece of clothing its more interesting to go for the runway piece, the commercial piece of the runway or the capsules that have really cool details.

However i think footwear is very inconsistent at LV. Great boots but that’s it. Some stuff is very bourgeois and formal.

I would put Prada and Gucci at the bottom when comparing all those brands. I’m always unimpressed by the pieces and shocked by the pricing in retail. Everything is more worth it in sales but Prada and Gucci even more. They have outpriced themselves.

Prada can surprise me sometimes but it’s not really a brand I’m checking for. And Dior, I can look but I have never been a Dior woman. Great quality nevertheless.

LVMH brands in general have a great quality when it comes to their RTW, bags and footwear. The issue sometimes is more moral.
BV, good clothes, coherent pricing.

^always interested in hearing your insights
Thank you.
In terms of pricing and purchasing, My mantra is always: Pay full retail price for independent or young designers. Jump on any type of sales or discount when it comes to big brands…Except if you wants to be invited in shows (but for what they requires in terms of purchase history for clients for the past decade, you may as well buy on sales…Unless you know somebody).

interesting but id imagine the blue and the black bags will have a very buttery soft leather than the harsh and ugly saffiano style.
