Nirvana

^^ I don't think it's true, the source wasn't the most secure. I certainly hope it's a lie

About Nirvana, well, it sounds ridiculous but I can pretty much divide my life into pre-Nirvana and post-Nirvana. Their music meant everything to me for a long time. When I started listening to them, I also got into a bunch of great bands, art, films and all of that has completely shaped who I am today.

that is pretty much how i feel about nirvana, stellamare.

i don't think i will ever grow tired of kurt or nirvana, it is just one of those bands that will always stay stuck in my heart and be embeded within me.
i love kurts sense of humor and he's just an enduring character to me. i just wanted to post some of my favorite pictures i have found on the internet.

sources for most of my pictures are either courtney-love.org or livenirvana

I have divided feelings about Nirvana....on one hand, he was a beautiful creature, extremely charismatic, very nice voice, some of the best songs ever made - on the other hand, they seemed to have a lot of pretense, and kudos to them to be able to retain that in their state.

Cobain was laid back and greasy, but then, he could have worn anything and looked angelic - with that face. He claimed he didn't like catchy songs, well easy for him to say, since he couldn't help himself from writing semi-catchy masterpieces.

The only reason I'm not a fellow devotee, is probably what I perceive as his self-hatred and that they brought on all those worthless bands that came after them...that lacked Cobain's beauty, style, charisma and self-loathing effortlessness.

I can't ever get tired of Pennyroyal Tea or Something In the Way or the Unplugged in New York cd.

I read Heavier then Heaven in the summer and it was quite disturbing. Kurt was truly a very disturbed person, and if anyone has read it or wants to read it - be warned, it is an extremely heavy read. I read it in two days because I just wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. :ninja:

I still adore him/them in many ways though... I can't imagine that a time will come when I will outgrow those songs I have loved so much.

I've heard there are quite a few lies in Heavier Than Heaven... I haven't read it (and I don't really plan to), but judging from what I heard, some of the things stated in the book are proven false by his journals.

I love the song too but the video is just a collage from the amazing videocassette called Live Tonight Sold Out! It had some really genuine moments in there!:D

I have Live Tonight Sold Out! and love it to pieces.:D I just haven't watched it in a while.

kurt actually did like catchy songs and admitted to them. Hence, being influenced by the beatles, the knack, the smitereens, a lot of poppy rock. One of his favorite albums was "meet the beatles" which had their earlier, poppier tunes. You can't really blame Nirvana itself for the followers. A lot of the grunge bands have spawned countless, uninspired wannabes. Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam are copied heavily, even maybe moreso than Nirvana. The Beatles spawned talentless creatures aka Oasis. But I don't associate the Beatles with turd like Oasis.

don't buy that book looking for accuracy. You can buy it if you want the (mostly) perspective of Courtney Love especially after they met. There is a lot of Kurt hated Dave, Krist, etc. Christopher Cross, the author, doesn't exactly have the best track record for the truth either.
