'Nu-Rave'

Its quite an interesting look for me, but some of Christopher Kanes pieces are really lovely. I also found some in Fendi that might be seen as "Nu Neon" but alot more toned down, and more wearable.

I also found some pieces that would work from Alice Ritter SS07, but due to flash I dont know how to attach the pictures... :)

Hold on, so the girls and boys in the top post are serious about their look? I would've thought they were being not serious as always, "haha, look at me wearing the clothes my older sister wore in the scary dephts of the 90s, oh the irony sparks and kills"?

The ironic moustache was quite big here in Sweden this year and suddenly no one knew if they were being serious or not.. it start out as fun but suddenly becomes very serious.. when more than.. 3.. people wear it. the power of the mass :ninja:

I believe this will be big in spring/summer.. at least in this very trend loyal country. Although I think the Christopher Kane collection have some great, beautiful pieces I'd love to wear (the two posted by Missivtec22 are divine) I have too much common sense and love for black to do this thing.

i can be flashy at times, i don't think i'll replace my whole wardrobe with neon pieces..but I'd pull it out for a fun night out from time to time...and I will NOT wear a purple spandex leotard thingie.. just can't do that.

This is such a load of crap. It is hardly comparable to raver culture in the 90s (well I guess that is what the 'new' is for [I refuse to say nu]) because there was a culture in the 90s. Raves simply dont exist anymore because of the clamping down by the law enforcers. I am sorry but wearing neon to indie clubs in London does not really have anything to do with rave. The music is wrong, the drugs are gone and the people are too middle class. Not that there is anything wrong with any of those things. I am not saying that these people have nothing on the cyberkids. I am sure they had pretensions enough amongst them. It is just that 'Rave' doesn't come into it. '
I agree. I was part of the rave scene in the 90s--toward the tail end, though--and raves just do not exist anymore. When I was part of the rave scene, we didn't even call them "raves," but parties, and they weren't in clubs, but old, abandoned wearhouses (sp?). And they were illegal. As far as fashion, I really didn't see a lot of neon! I did love my fat-pants, though. I was more into a kind urban-preppy look--like oversized rugbees, sweater vests with dress shirts underneath. I do think that the fashion in the rave days did vary by region. I used to go to parties in Detroit, and didn't see the neon and glowsticks until the rave scene was nearly extinct. I also used to venture out in Toronto and there I saw a lot more neon and "candy."

"What's hot for 2007?

Another hard to wear trend this year is Nu-Rave. Which is a posh way of saying 90s throwback. Bright colours, hoodies, neon baseball caps and Nike Air Max's. You may sneer, but everyone will be wearing it come next Christmas."

LOVING... Nu-rave fashion

We've already slapped on our neon nail polish, made our own neon belts à la Christopher Kane and embraced the Klaxons as our new favourite band. All we need are some glowsticks and a smiley-face tee and our look will be complete...

Hmm....

might "new rave" could be linked with this old electroklash trend? because imo, COS were more electroklash than new rave. Klaxons are New Rave (mixing early 90s acid house to rockish punk)
anyway what's the difference btw Electroklash and NuRave? did electroklash came across the ocean?!

I don't like it, a light tough of accessories in rave ish colour is alright, but i dont understand the green and yellow, they hurt my eyes
perhaps it's a trend not for anyone over 20

Some people are saying that it wont become an actual trend, but I really do think it will be. For example, what about the skinny jeans trend? It started back up a few years ago. The first time I saw them was when the 'scene' kids were wearing them in around 2004. Then a year on they have become a major trend. Same with leggings. Things start as just being a 'scene' trend but they grow to be something much bigger. I have already seen this look in H&M. This is just my take on it. I'm not saying I like the trend, and I could be wrong, but I think a lot more people could be wearing a watered down version of this look come 2007, and not just in clubs

i dont like it. judging by the street style pictures regarding the look it just seems like another thing the scene kids are taking and wearing "ironically"

but anyway, if we are talking about clashing bright colors and patterns, i would say that the new designer and Ungaro has been doing this

but joy division feels quite the opposite of 'nu-rave'.. ^_^

very true, but I was mainly thinking about the colours :)

I agree with you susanna on what you said about Sweden snapping this trend up.

i don't think the scene kids are wearing anything 'ironically', they're just wearing it 'cause it looks cool right now. because, hi, that's what scenesters do.

I have always had a little "raver" in my look, but those party outfits are kind of over the top...

^'Nu-rave' isn't really techno though.... in fact...it's nothing like techno!

h&m has an entire new rave'ish neon cartoon couture esqe collection out .. i noticed it today its hit mainstream now i would say :)

I kind of like this, at least to some extent. Adding some neon accessories every once in a while never hurt anyone.
