NY Fashion Week S/S 05 Schedule

*waves* to Soft.

I don't think I have, I just jumped right in.
Pardon my rudeness as I am terrible with introductions, even virtual ones.
I know you and a few other vets are very big on posting things in the right thread so I will post it there.

NEW YORK PREVIEW: ROLAND MOURET
ROLAND MOURET says every piece in his spring/summer 2005 collection is set to be a best seller, but if he was forced to choose just one, it would have to be a raspberry pink number. "It's a stunning cocktail dress that has a layer of light chiffon over a structured, corsetted bodice," he admits. "The girls in the studio have lost all interest in the winter collection and they're all raving about this dress now." Having hooked up with Jonathan Saunders to include print on his catwalk for the first time, Mouret, who has chosen to show in New York for the third season running, wants women to do what they like with his latest designs. "What I love most about this collection is that you can mix it up and create your own sense of identity," he says. "It was mostly inspired by the South of France in the Fifties but there is such a rich mix of fabrics, including Lurex, bouclé and Irish linen that you can make of it what you will. It is very elegant but laid back too. I didn't make it for a particular type of woman, most women will love it." (September 8 2004, AM)

NEW YORK PREVIEW: MATTHEW WILLIAMSON
MATTHEW WILLIAMSON watched some dodgy films to get the look right for spring/summer 2005. "I wanted to explore the Seventies idea of the ideal futuristic woman," he explains. "So I watched cheesy films like Weird Science and more dodgy things like Star Trek, Barbarella and Logan's Run." Don't expect the Williamson catwalk to be over-run by Stepford Wives, however - he's kept plenty of his signature elements: eye-popping colour, sexy silhouettes and a mass of intricate detailing. "On the one hand the girls will be very android-like and robotic," he goes on. "But it will still be very me. I'm curious about the mix of the effortless bohemian thing with the very modern." Showing off site for the first time, Williamson has transformed a huge white space on West 35th Street into a "very weird" sort of futuristic beach. "Imagine it if you will…" he says. "It's great to be off-site though. I've been hankering after it for ages. We've had amazing support from Bryant Park but this is really an opportunity to make the show our own." (September 8 2004, AM)

NEW YORK PREVIEW: BETSEY JOHNSON
IS Betsey Johnson growing up? The American design diva, who celebrated her 62nd birthday last month, has been forced to behave by the latest trend for ladylike dressing. "I've been told by everyone I need to grow up, so I'm behaving a bit more than usual and the Betsification of the collection has been held back," she says. "I've done the sexiest, down-and-dirtiest shows in the past and this time I'm going to be a little more refined." Set in the Matsuri Club, beneath the Maritime Hotel, the spring/summer 2005 Betsey Johnson show will have a morph of Audrey Hepburn and a traditional Geisha girl as its muse. So will we miss Betsey's signature element of surprise? "That is the surprise I guess," she goes on. "That I'm showing the flipside of the coin this time. Concentrating so much on glamour gives me a chance to play Givenchy or Oscar de la Renta." But it won't all be well-behaved. "There'll be a Suzy Wong sleeze combined with the Audrey Hepburn beauty," she admits. "I may have lost a few puff ball minis but I don't want to suddenly be Carolina Herrera. This girl is a touch Tina Turner in Private Dancer, but there'll be no bumping and grinding this season. She's supercool and super-beautiful but she's super-street too." And just in case anyone was worried about a touch of maturity on the Johnson catwalk, inspired by her Japanese setting, Betsey promises to burst out kung foo fighting at the end.
