Urban Outfitters is giving away free one year (10 issue) subscriptions to Nylon magazine here. That link sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, so when it doesn't, click here and scroll down and click on the yellow "our gift to you" box on the bottom left corner.

Urban Outfitters discount code: 20% off $100.
Code: LUCKY2008.
Includes sale items.

thanks. i signed up. considering the direction Nylon has been headed into for over a year now, i don't really know why i did, but i'm not against receiving free magazines..

^
Why are they giving it away for free? Strange...

I signed up for this maybe a month, maybe several ago. Haven't gotten any magazines, or emails back about this. Maybe it'll start next year?? In mag related news, I tried to click off a window and somehow signed myself up for an entire year of Good Housekeeping, lol!

Yeah ,I signed up for this about 4 weeks ago.Nylon is fine for me,I like that it has a diverse selection of topics in it, and I only started reading it this year so I have no idea about how it once was.

I'm hoping I start getting the issues soon, maybe the first issue we'll get will be the February issue, seeing as how the January one is already out.

I signed up for this like a week ago. Great deal! I hope it comes. ;)

Is it really no strings attatched? I'm magazine crazy, so I certainly wouldn't be objected to getting another... as long as I didn't have to pay for it.

Maybe they've been getting less consumers lately so they thought that giving away free issues would make more people notice the magazine?

Oh well, it's a free magazine giveaway so I'm all for it! lol.I might email Nylon just to find out exactly when I'll be getting the magazine.

Dagnabbit, they don't ship outside the U.S.!

Ah well, I'll just have it go to my Dad's house. Thank you lots :)

Sometimes magazines want to boost their subscription numbers to be more desirable to advertisers. They don't have to say how many subscribers get it free, and higher readership means more advertising money.

I saw that my original post was edited for fonts. I just used green, as I've used elsewhere on TFS. Is it just the magazine forums that require black fonts? Because I really like posting in green! :p

I get Nylon already, but I signed up anyway. I hope they add on issues. I don't even read it, because I get so many magazines (I'm a mag addict!), but at least I have a bunch of new reading material for soggy cold days at the beach!

im suspicious of this. though im no fan of nylon, i wouldn't oppose to it free, but is it really free?

To the best of my knowledge ,yes.I know the supplies of it are limited of course(you can only offer so many free magazines I suppose).

what is this part for that you included?

Urban Outfitters discount code: 20% off $100.
Code: LUCKY2008.
Includes sale items.

is that an extra thing you gave us for urban or does that have to do with the subscription?

^ That's aside from the subscription.

What a deal.

But if you think about it, magazines should be paying US to read them and look at the advertisements. But anyway.

Ther has got to be a catch -people need to make money!

Basically more "subscribers" means that they can charge more from advertisers. I mean, it's like how you can get the magazine subscription for super cheap on ebay. I mean, I only pay like a total of $20 for a whole year subscription of Vogue, Bazaar and W. I rarely even read them, but its like less than $1 and issue.

I doubt there is a catch to this; what Nylon is probably hoping for here is more subscribers in the long run. By giving out free subscriptions now, there's a chance that when the year is over many of the subscribers will like it enough to pay for another year.

It's a good marketing technique, if you ask me.

It's a wonderful marketing technique, free magazines! lol.

If only vogue Italia would give away free subscriptions :(.

That's exactly what I do- with Paper, Interview, Teen Vogue, and a few others besides. They sit around unopened and sometimes I bring them to work or something. My only wish is that I could cut out the ebay middle-person and find wherever they are giving away the subscriptions for free. :innocent:Still, $4 or $5 for a 3 year subscription is pretty cool.

And yes, it is all about getting more "subscribers" for the advertisers.
