Olivia Palermo

^ Thanks!! What is it that makes her so stylish and attractive? She's tiny compared to many chic women, but she has a sense of style and grooming that outpaces even many of the biggest models!! Amazing- I can see pictures of her all day! :flower:

Her latest outfit is absolutely lovely. Does anyone know who her jacket is by? I love the sweater-like sleeves with the leather.

^^ Can't find the jacket yet- I'll keep looking...;)

I don't believe height is a flaw or that taller people are somehow superior to shorter...I don't get this comment tbh

It's not a negative- let's face it, almost every model out there is tall, not by accident but simply because clothes generally look better on tall, willowy girls, move better on the runway etc...All I mean is shorter, very petite women like Olivia generally have a more difficult time looking as good as she does, particularly in designer clothes...I apologize if it sounded like a criticism... :flower:

I completely agree. I am only 4'10 and it is VERY hard to get clothes to look right on you compared to someone taller. It is almost impossible to get proportions right and takes a lot of searching for the right pieces and being very critical about fit. I don't know how Olivia does it. Though I am sure she puts a great deal of time and effort into her wordrobe, something most women wouldn't be able to do. I also wonder if she gets help from a stylist that helps her in the shopping search and a talented talior that alters all her clothes. Clothes look on her as good as they would on someone who is 5'10. I think it also has to do with her body proportion as well. Even though she is short she has long legs and a long torso.

I did see a photo of her from a photoshoot once wearing a pair of pants that were obviously rolled under at the bottom and thus losing the detailing on the hem which could be seen in a photo that someone posted along side it with the same pants on a tall model. I had to smile when I saw that after years of having to deal with same situation. The plight of the petite!

Statistics show that taller people get paid more... And think of all the "fashion icons" of the past... MOST of them are at least avg height (5' 5" or taller).
But Olivia is has great proportions and she often wears heels, which make her legs great. She knows how to dress for her body...

In terms of how clothes look on the body, height matters very little compared to proportions. I've said it before but a short woman with good proportions can wear clothes just as well as someone who is 5'10". Why designer insist on only taller women has more to do with preference that actual appearance.

I disagree. with the right tailor, knowing and wearing clothes that actually compliment your body, tall or short, one could look good.

Another pict of Olivia wearing the beautiful knit cape that IMO really flatters her!

I am sorry if I repost it.

regarding the short/tall comments...i agree with whoever said that its relatively harder to look super glam in all kinds of clothes when you are shorter than average (average being around 5'3" or 5'4" in america)...its not that you can't find flattering clothes for every body type, but it requires more effort/more tailoring to get the chicness that Olivia always possesses. In olivia's case, I think her overall petite body frame and stature are the reason she is able to wear designer clothes with the same appeal as a 5'9" runway model who was born to be a clothes hanger. i think that if Olivia was more average (in looks and wealth)...i.e. she didn't have all the expensive clothing and looked more like the average 24 yr old...then, there is no way she could exude the elegance and style that she does now. But, i will say she is good at putting pieces together...most of the time.

Rachel Bilson and Sienna Miller are two other actresses who are short but still manage to wear clothes phenomenally...its mostly about proportions, and they both have great ones. i'm always surprised at how amazing they look in jeans (that would probably look horrendous on someone of the same height but not as good of a shape). On the other hand, not to sound critical at alllll, but I think Hilary Duff and Marykate Olsen both are good examples of short girls who aren't blessed with perfect proportions. Regardless of that factor though, they still manage to look stylish and classy and fashion-forward. which is how everyone should approach fashion. work with what youve got!!
