I've missed the candids of Olivia, where she doesn't try so hard to be the "perfectly accessorized" girl that attempts to be at premieres and events. This is a simple outfit, but I love everything about it. I love me some Breton stripes ^_^

Does anyone know what event this was from? Would like to see the outfit in full

I really like her outfit when she's with her mum, she looks better, simple and clean without trying so hard.

The problem with her blog is that I don't want to read it.

It looks boring. I honestly haven't read a single post - nor have I felt like doing it because the pictures don't entice me.

The sad thing is in her attempt to make her blog perfect or whatever, it comes of as pretentious and more importantly, NOT FUN. Had she gotten a blogspot account and just recycled streetstyle pictures from other photographers, I would have been more interested just for the picture p*rn of her outfits.

I know nothing of Lauren but I really enjoy her blog thebeautydepartment because I love the tutorials to hair/makeup and inspirational pictures. People want to be inspired, not just hear about your awesome life, Liv.

^You took the words right of my mouth.
First of all i'm not interested of who has written posts, I'd rather not to know and believe that Olivia write all of them (after all is HER blog...). Second thing: she is known because of her style, so I think that she can publish more outfits, maybe she want to be like a editor in a magazine (or her writers) writting posts about first fashion week, or about how to wear...
I'm not saying that she makes tutorials, as Lauren, but Lauren's blog is really better than Olivia's... just saying.
I hope that Olivia's blog get better, i really hope, or it will be a disappointment.

I was really hoping for something like she did with British vogue.com last year, where she detailed her outfits everyday for a month. I was really interested to see what she'd wear on a day to day basis and how she paired things. I can do without all the SAT words and pretense. I'm all for telling us how she pairs leather shorts, but I don't want to read about how they're a formidable fashion trend.

I really hope Olivia is writing this herself and not paying for a professional writer. I'm a freelance copywriter and some of my writing appears under other people's names. If she did indeed hire a ghostwriter for her blog, she needs to find another one.

The writing on her blog is really stilted. It's written like an ESL student who has read too many Victorian novels. I really like Olivia but I find her writing unbearable.

For example: "Hardly can one flip through a fashion magazine or scroll through a style blog without coming across a feature that waxes poetically about the ballet flat."

The grammar isn't even correct.

Cringe....

"This past July I returned stateside from the Paris collections – and a mini-vacation – to see my girlfriends peppering me with questions as to where fashion is moving"

Couldnt get past 'moving' - she sounds like a douche.

Shame bc she is obv trying to give her blog a bit of depth (at least I think that's her intention) but it comes off really unlikeable!

I gave it another go....

"Hardly can one flip through a fashion magazine or scroll through a style blog without coming across a feature that waxes poetically about the ballet flat. Though unquestionably a style staple, there are times when this classic, well, falls flat. Beautiful summer sundresses and Hepburn-esque cigarette pants seem as though they would lend themselves to [...]"

but no...she sounds like a loser

Olivia can do so much more IMO. She can discuss trends on the runways and on the street since she pays attention to street fashion and is well travelled. I mean this is a girl who sit front row at Valentino, Dior, Giambattista Valli, etc.. and possible have access to the designers and their show rooms.... surely she has experienced/seen alot that can be elaborated into a great blog.

IMO her blog lacks effort on her part... and a total fail thus far.

I feel bad for saying this, but this whole blog thing is starting to remind me of when Olivia first popped into the NYC scene and was a total try-hard. The writing on the blog seems so stilted, contrived, and pretentious.

I really don't think she needs to showcase her writing. If she would post photos, that'd pretty much be sufficient.
