Olivia Palermo

why is she seen as out of the socialite ranks thanks to Tinsley? Tinsley loves to make herself look like an angel, is she really that evil that she would do that to Olivia?
Olivia could be a model, she's gorgeous, Tinsley looks like a man in drag:p

Does she have female friends? She always seems to be alone at events or with males. Is she really an outcast? It makes me wonder why does she even bother with the pretense of that whole society scene when her looks could rank her higher in other crowds.

I agree. If she just moved to LA she could have easily become an "It" girl and gotten into the Hollywood scene, taken acting classes, slowly gotten gigs, etc... because isn't that what she wants to do anyways? I think she got an awful edit on The City. They made her look like this uber b*tch. I get that she's the real life Blair Waldorf, but everyone knows Leighton is playing a character and Blair isn't real, but Olivia needs to be more careful about how she portrays herself while filming a reality show.
She's so beautiful though, so even if she does become the "villian" of The City, she'll still become the breakout star - I have a feeling the media will be talking about her the most.

Back to her style...I love love her outfit in post #510

I'm pretty sure her best friend is Byrdie Bell.

She has nice clothes...style i'm not so sure...

I totally agree! :flower:

She has amazing clothes, shoes, and accessories, but I don't really think she has that extra something that separates her from the rest. She doesn't have that "it" factor, in my opinion, that makes her style look effortlessly done. I can't really explain it, but everything about her just seems so contrived. To me, she's like a Lauren Conrad, only in more expensive clothes.

I don't know why, but it bugs me how she looks so prim and proper all the time. :ninja: I just want to take my hands and mess that hair up a little, wipe some of that makeup off of her face, just rough her up a bit. I hate how she always looks so "put-together" all the time. Everything about her just seems so "planned", I guess you can say, LOL. :innocent:

I think it actually takes Olivia a lot less effort to wake up and make the decision to run a brush through her hair and look impeccable than it does for some hipster to look "un-planned" whilst wearing head-to-toe designer and sporting $500 highlights in their "just-out-of-bed" hair. That is why I hate hipsters/scenesters who want everyone to believe they just woke up and threw on some clothes. There is something very genuine about a woman like Olivia who is impeccably groomed and owns it. She seems to recognize the value of those labels she's wearing and uses them to enhance her appearance rather than make some pretentious statement of "I'm so cool. Look how original I am wearing my Chanel with my thrift store skirt and "un-done" hair that I spent two hours on."

If you look at the hold pictures, she was "less put together", now it seems like she's playing a role. I agree, A little messy hair, less make up..more natural...i think she wears waay too much makeup...and she def doesnt need to. A lot of make up on a woman always ruins that "effortless" look...i mean, have you ever seen kate moss or even ashley olsen in that much make up? .

Also, she should be more selective on the events she attends, a true "socialite" doesnt have that much free time to be attending every opening or cocktail their is in nyc, but then again, shes staring in a reality show on MTV...... She's going to be one of those self-made celebs....shes going to be famous in a year for being famous...

^ I find her style to be too contrived lately. She's trying to hard. I loved her style back around post 513 & 524 (on the previous page), it was very femme, simple, classic and put together with a twist. That's when I really began to follow her and now she just looks like a trend victim much of the time. I wish she would go back to her 'old' style. Has anyone else noticed a switch in her style too? or is it all in my head?

Yikes, now I'm scared for her.

And oh, why isn't she featured at Park Avenue Peerage? I feel like everyone turned their back on Olivia after the Tinsley letter fiasco.

because the audience/commentators for the PAP is essentially the same as that of SocialiteRank.

i think Olivia isn't considered a "proper" socialite in the park avenue, blueblood sense, and isn't part of the accepted social circles ie. Fabiola, Tinsley, Olivia Chantecaille..

i think that she just wants to be famous and photographed (whatever the cost to her personal dignity/true sense of self) and is prepared to live quite a superficial lifestyle, and if The City gets that for her well.. :ermm:

Itotally agree. i love her style back then alot more. like post 514.

the city..12/29!

I really like Olivia on The City, but for some reason I feel like Whitney doesnt reall like her and its only the first episode.

She is THE best thing to happen to The City. The rest of the cast is blah ...

ETA: I just posted in The City thread that she is the only reason I will watch the rest of the show. Actually, I won't even watch the whole show, just the parts of it with Olivia in them.
