Olivia Palermo

I loved the pics of Olivia and her bf at St. Barts, it's nice that even though it was obvious they hired the pap to snap, they at least didn't come off desperate or famewhorish. To me it more seemed like some classy editorial, esp with some of the cute pieces she had on, minus the bikini.

I'm glad she is confident with her body, she is petite and needs to represent for us petite girls!

and we have a very beautiful representative of petite!^_^

Here's an interesting take on our girl... ^_^

What’s With the UK’s Fascination With Olivia Palermo?

Yesterday the UK’s Daily Mail posted one of their standard non-stories about a celebrity, built up around some photos. It secured the top spot on the paper’s website, so you’d assume the celeb story was about an A-lister. Not so. Olivia Palermo of all people, in her bikini with her boyfriend, had garnered the lead story spot. “Far away from The City: Reality TV star Olivia Palermo puckers up with model boyfriend as she shows off bikini in St Barts,” the headline blared.
Across the pond, Palermo seems to have become more of a celebrity than she is back here. She’s been a fixture for several seasons now at London Fashion Week, sitting front row at Topshop Unique and Richard Nicoll, she snagged the cover of Tatler which ran with the headline “Girl of the Year,” she was one of Vogue UK’s “Today I’m Wearing” style diary girls, and was the face of Freda for Matches, the upscale UK boutique chain.
So why all the fuss? “Most press over here first met her when she was the face of Freda for Matches at LFW in February 2010,” says Sasha Wilkins, a British fashion editor who pens the blog Liberty London Girl. “She was utterly charming, pretty and had great manners…and we all love Jo Sykes, Freda, and Matches so she was launched over here in good company.”
To be fair, even when Olivia was being all underminder-y on the City, her manners were always in check. She was never loud or brassy or outright rude.
In fact, well-mannered is exactly how Matches’ site describes her (with just a smidge more adoration), “The uptown girl became a style icon when she stole the show in MTV’s The City, a glossy depiction of the lives and loves of a set of well-dressed twenty-something-year-olds in New York. She’s sweetly charming with impeccable manners – not to mention heartmeltingly beautiful – with style to match.” Not a peep about how Palermo came off pretty bitchy and villainous on the reality show.
Wilkins explains, “Of course no one in the UK knows about that whole socialite letter controversy from a few years back that first had her hitting Manhattan headlines, so she has no bad history over here at all. Also relatively few people have actually seen The City so they only know her from event photos, where she only ever looks pretty, demure, smiley, and neatly dressed.”
In short, she’s endeared herself to the Brits. “Basically, the English press adore Americans who give London the time of day. They think it adds a frisson of glamour,” explains Wilkins. “I think a lot of British people love to loathe Americans–thinking them brash, bold and fake but Olivia comes across as a pretty and well dressed almost English girl when she is over here, and that gives her novelty value too.”

^hmm, chauvinists much ? I think that's not a really good article actually, they just present her as a void picture.

“She was utterly charming, pretty and had great manners

I agree with this. I don't know why with The City program, the whole publicity made people think that Olivia is a bi**h, for me she is the nicest girl ever.

A couple of the other websites posted the article about her, and the venom of the comments!! :o There seems to be a very active Hate Olivia group out there- I'm really surprised...

How can people wist their times in a "hate somebody (who is not in their lives since they don´t even know her/him)" group?? It amazes me. They just must not have a life really.

Wow, I just went through the comments in the Daily Mail article, and VENOM is right. I really can't believe how harsh some people can be.

Can only be an indication that she is making quite an impact. Seems to me they care for her more than they are willing to put on, why else would people who don't care for her willing to take the time and dedicate it towards someone they're going to try and put down?

Honestly... In some cases, and I feel ESPECIALLY in Olivia's case, people are always inclined to hate those that are accomplished, achieved, beautiful... etc. I remember a few years ago I used to hate devon aoki because my ex-bf was obsessed with her and had her on his desktop. Now I've grown to love her- shes beautiful!

great pics from st. barth .. thanks for posting

I think a lot of the negative comments are pure jealously- I mean, how many people are born with her style, upbringing and beauty? But I never hear people saying "Kate Moss might dress well but she has no personality!!"
I think it is sort of funny that Olivia is quickly becoming a real superstar, and her two biggest rivals, Whitney and Tinsley, are slipping away further and further...

^Boomer that article is so true though (coming from a Londoner who works in the fashion industry) she is really seen as an epitome of class, and of New York style with a London edge as she always goes on about how she loves London and London style ( sometimes London style isnt the best and she appreciates that in an ironic way...so do I haha). I also think some of her best outfits have been when she was in London. I think she also feels in her element here. I've known about the letter scandal before, but that never changed my mind. People will talk, people will always be in scandals. I am just interested in their style. I also relate to her as I myself (my HG of nailpolish is Essie lollipop too and has been for ages) and I have been told my style is quite polished, modern. I also think that a lot of young professional women in London dress like her too as a cry out for help from all the grunge or the over tanned looks you see in London (I still do enjoy the grunge and even the eclectic style though even though I wouldn't dress like that) another thing that I think OP enjoys about London.

DM readers are a whooooole nother story though!

Well, she is beautiful, wears clothes very well (an underrated talent in this day and age), obviously has a great eye for putting outfits together and has developed a wonderful positive reputation for being polite and friendly- none of which would lead me to expect the viciousness of the people who don't 'approve' of her, or whatever it is...Someone may not care for her style but these basically personal attacks seem way out of line. I just hate how Olivia has become a lightening rod for all of this hate talk...

all the haters are just jealous (at least I mean people who don't know her and still hate her). Afterall how can you hate someone you don't even know? Its not like saying I find her annoying blah balh balh...its a personal attack like you said.

She is quite enviable though!

Im with you guys, Im really surprised what envy can cause. All the haters are just jealous of her good taste in clothes, her manners and her personality. It just ridiculous to hate someone who is that nice. Madure all haters!!!!

Anyone know if her olive skin is from her mother or father...father clearly? With Palermo for a surname she must!
