Overrated/Underrated

i think the white stripes are overrated. i've got one of their cd's and i've seen them in concert and i couldn't stand it. i guess i don't see where the genius is when it's a bunch of load noise and screeching. my opinion only.

I fu*king love the White Stripes and I think they deserve all the hype they get. Meg White's drumming has been criticized as being so minimalist that a monkey could bang out the same sets, but I think her sparse drumming works brilliantly in the context of the music (e.g. Seven Nation Army)...so skilled or not, I think it goes well with the sound. And of course Jack White...goes without saying, perhaps he's overrated as a guitarist, but as a vocalist he's got one of the sexiest struts since Mick Jagger. White Stripes really brought back that dirty garage sound for me...to me they're the new Zeppelin.

Though I like these bands enough, I think the press pushes them too much in my face and just get way too much exposure
Overrated:
The Killers (Overplayed)
Coldplay (As we are fellow UCL alumni, I'm supposed to like em' but I just CAN'T)
Scissor Sisters (I just really don't get it....)
Kaiserchiefs (too much noise.....not enough quality)
The Streets (this dude got it EASY)
Franz Ferdinand (good....but not enough)

Underrated:
Rilo Kiley (they deserve so much fame)
Statistics (an alternative to Death Cab)
Pedro the Lion
The New Pornographers
Decemberists

the new Led Zeppelin? I thought I read it wrong. They couldn't be any further from the passion of Led Zeppelin, musically and lyrically, imo.

Bloc Party is so overrated. I also don't understand the more obvious pop-punk movement of Blink 182, Bowling for Soup, etc. .. Muse are copycats and their stuff got boring quickly, the only song of theirs I like is Plugin Baby.

Ratatat are really underrated. No one's heard of them. + Cocorosie's stuff is gorgeous.

I agree with most everyone that the killers are wayy over rated, after they were on the OC i just wanted Mr. Brightside to go die somewhere. I also think My chemical romance is overrrated, but then again i'm biased cus i hate that type of music. Ohyea green day is way overrathed too lol, again agreeing with everyone.

Under rated: definately The Black Keys
Hot Hot Heat, Elevator is a great album

I'll join the James Blunt overrated crowd. And I find pretty much all of the Joy Division & Gang Of Four rip-off, would-be post-punk bands overrated. The only reason kids thing they're so great is because they've never heard the original bands. Sad...

James Blunt is definitely overrated. As is Bright Eyes, the Black Eyed Peas, the Shins, Hellogoodbye (EEEEEWWWW), and Kings of Leon.
