I've been looking at Rabanne's archival pieces and I love what they're doing with their new collections as well - less of the space age but still retaining that clean cut, angular quality.

ohhhh I'm lookin forward to more pictures - I see a mix of a lot of designers here..all designers that I like..so while I don't think there is a clear vision I like what I see..

Where have you seen the archival pieces susie? I'd really like to see more of Rabanne's old stuff. This I'm on the fence about....i think i have a very certain image of rabanne from just a small period in his work (ie chainmail) and if it doesn't reference that I have trouble understanding it....so I'd like to see more of his old stuff. This doesn't grab me so far though

Aren´t there some at Firstview? I´m not sure how far those go back though, probably not very far.

I've been reading some books about Mod culture and Rabanne's stuff is mentioned a lot. I've seen some pieces in person at the V&A, ModeNatie in Antwerp and one piece at the Fashion Untamed exhibition at the NY Met musuem last yr. I quite liked Paco's attitude of pushing the boundaries with materials.

This stuff is probably not as ground-breaking obviously but I think it's a commercial way forward.

i really like the gold jacket, becuase it is gold but the workmanship isn't that great, at least in that pic, i dont think he has that much skill really, i guess i just will have to wait for more pics, at least the arms on the jacket are long, excuse my A.D.D. post

wait a minute the "thing" jackest/dress on freja is soo cool, i like it.

Am I the only one who's sees Ghesquire's Balenciaga here, though Nicolas has been influenced by Cardin/Rabanne/Courréges before, so who knows where the ideas came from. The Rabanne archives or Balenciaga lookbooks?

At first glance I didn't care for this at all, but after a second look I like it better... Not sure what to think just yet...

some very gorgeous jackets..
especially the one in the first picture..

:woot:

... and that dress/jacket piece Freja is wearing is also very stunning

In every row of two I'm finding that I love one look, and think the other is appalling... Row 1 on the left, row 2 on the right being the best ones. I find it too inconsistent so far for my liking, but I need to see the whole collection, I think - I'm definitely curious.

I like this a lot. Who did they hire to do the line? I forgot.

Patrick Robinson!
This is a very good start for someone who's had quite a variance of styles at Perry Ellis and his own. Bravo Patrick.
Some of the pieces look well put together, others like they were sewn just before the show. Mmm. And too many lengths and silhouettes for one collection.

I like it alot. Some pieces are a annoying, like I dont put Rabanne and ruching together, or the color pink. Id like it be more...graphic, the 60's are in, Rabanne is almost synonomous with the 60's (and the 70's too), where are the go-go boots and trapeze line lucite tile coats? It's a perfect time for Rabanne to make a comeback.

Very good I think, so much better than his other work for Rabanne.

I love the black jacket with the pleating and the bottom.
