I'm Australian but live in Paris and what I notice is that people are generally much slimmer here than in Australia or the US.

That can be said of most of France though !!

I have also lived in paris and agree with you that ppl pictured in blogs isnt the common thing... plus, there are many different styles in the city depending on the arrondisement... and most of the pictures are taken around le marais and saint germain where most of the trendy boutiques and art galleries are... so it's no a real reflection of the city.

I have also lived in London, and it's true that there the style is way more daring than in Paris... but in general I think french style is based on a classic, soft and polished style with timeless and well-structured quality pieces mixed with trendy items of the moment but never going too far... they based their style on secured outfits.

advice!!! dont take for granted fashion week outfits... they are (almost) fake, dont exist in the real paris.

...people are generally much slimmer here than in Australia or the US. It's rare to see an overweight person...

You also have to remember that people you see in the street aren't necessarily Parisian- it's the most visited city in the world, 20 million tourists a year...
I agree with the most recent observ. of the style on the last pages, but esp agree with the above from ckashie. And on the weight thing, not to go off topic...so I won't, but I've also wondered as to the various reasons/causes for this.

^Maybe you could bring up your query in the "French Style" thread:) And there is a bestselling book called French Women Don't Get Fat by Mirielle Guiliano.

as Gasolinerainbow pointed out the topic has been discussed in the french style thread. the answer may be in FRENCH DIET, and costumes.

French people dont eat that much. although they use a lot of cheese and fatty creams they dont overeat and as well as italians and spanish they take their time to eat (over 1 hour) and enjoy food.
