I don't know how these stylish Parisian girls manage to trot around Paris all day with those ginormous mountain-like platform heels attached to under their feet

I'm overwhelmed by sincere admiration!

Really? She looks so young! Wow.

Regarding that post, I love that last girl! Often times, the outfits posted are really great, but are hard to translate into different body types. It's great, then, when slightly curvier girls are posted looking so stylish... it gives me the inspiration that I seek on these threads, but often dont find, because the trends posted just dont work on me. That last girl just makes me want to rush to my closet in excitement! :woot:

Everyone is so cute! I am shocked, though, to see so many wearing jeans, I always thought French women didn't wear them as religiuosly as we do. :D

They do wear jeans, they just don't wear them the way we do here in the States...e.g. with sneaks, huge uggs, etc.

Also, they have more of an appreciation for clothing SANS jeans, than we do here. That's the real difference, actually.

The pictures of the people that has been posted here, is in fact very inspiring, and they truly look fantastic.

But when you go to Paris, it`s not like the average person dresses that different compared to the people living in other big cities in Europe? I mean you don`t see people that stick out from the crowd that often? (Maybe you have to be in certain areas?)
Because when I went to Paris last year, the thing that stroke me was the attitude the Parisians had, not the way they dressed, they looked so confident and relaxed. I must admit I did se a amount of really nice outfits, but I can`t say I feel as though Paris "is a very well dressed city."

I used to live in Germany for several years and eventually began working out of Paris. I'm from the US, from New York City, and I can say Europeans actually dress very differently from us.

They take more care in their appearance before they leave a house. Trolling around in uggs and a Juicy tracksuit is very characteristic of US tourists we'd see strolling about in France and in Germany.

In Paris, I found that the style aesthetic was greater than that of Frankfurt (Germany), where I used to live. But it reminded me of the Berlin style...that very cute, understated Eurochic that we just can't seem to capture here in the US.

Europeans in general have a certain flare for fashion that I love. Now that I'm back in NYC, I find myself, literally, cringing with revulsion at the way we dress here. :ninja:

DansLAir, you have some wonderful ideas that got me thinking.

I wonder if some of that Parisan/European chic that we in the US are captivated by is a by-product of some of the terrible economic deprivations Britons and Europeans lived with so long after WWII. Also most European countries have such a different tax structure (as in much higher taxes) than the US that I'm thinking a "do more with less attitude" has been ingrained for quite a long time.

In the US we can get a bit lazy with all the new fashion merchandise that's available to us and our generally higher rate of disposable income.

I find that my outfits are much more creative and interesting when I spend time working with the items in the closet that I have rather than running out to buy the next piece.

OK, enough of my $.02 sociology lecture I just think that it's an interesting idea.

I want a good pair of skinny jeans like the kind I'm seeing on so many of the girls in these pictures... not tapered and unflattering... just nicely skinny and tight. Anyone have any ideas?
