:heart::heart: What a lovely skirt!

Currently I am in Paris and I am absolutely amazed at the fashion consciousness of the French; perhaps everyone is not attuned with high fashion per say, but everyone certainly calculates effort and thought into their physical appearance. Paris really puts the U.S. to shame:I have not seen a single pair of sweats, sweatshirts or Uggs.

hot shoes! (above) i would just not be able to wear those..i dont know how she does it! it must be the french! :)

Those Garance Dore shots are in NYC. I would also say that it has nothing to do with a consciousness of fashion that in Paris people are less likely to wear sweatpants and uggs. I mean, you see the same thing in London. Unless you are doing a certain type of look, you never see people wear sweat pants in public. Not even running to the shop around the corner, and not anything like the type of sweats we wear in North America. I don't think that exhibits a greater consciousness of fashion, I just think that they don't have the same association with sweatpants that we do. I doubt their schools and clubs and groups make commemorative sweatpants for things, or wear scrubs casually, etc. It's just a different type of connection, though I don't think it's superior.

ironically about sweatpants - Garance has been proclaiming her love for them, and several fashion bloggers have also praised then.

True...but I think, in the main, the ones that they're discussing are slightly more tailored and not baggy and shapeless like the ones you see in the US. Plus, I'm pretty sure they don't have writing on the derriere...which as a foreigner living in the US I have never been able to understand.

Don't worry, I was born and raised in the U.S., and I don't understand it either. It's just tacky to have something written there, if you ask me.
