Parsons Fashion Studies Fall 2008 - For Those Who Applied

And accepted students day is how much earlier before school actually starts? That scares me.

I hope I get a letter in 2-3 weeks that'd be awesome since all the other schools I applied to are going to take almost 5 months.

In case anyone's wondering, I called Parsons today and they said they don't start making a decision til all your stuff is in the system and if you applied by the Feb 1st deadline it's not really in the system yet...so after everything's in the system then it will be maybe 2-3 weeks, even then they wait a month before mailing decision letters.

This is a really intensive program, just so you know. I applied late and got a response within 1 week.

They let you know end of February? Oh I'm excited!
I applied to Parsons for photography... it was a toss up for me between fashion and photography but my photography portfolio is a lot stronger. What I want to do is fashion photography (editorials would be my dream) so photography makes more sense anyway... but god I really hope I get in!

Oh, and does anyone know if it counts against you if you don't have an interview? There's no way I could make it out to New York to do one...

^^ I didn't interview and I actually LIVE in NYC.

Sweet Jane-I don't think you'll know their decision by the end of Feb..unless they post decisions online, which I don't know if they do. They could make the decision by then, but they won't mail out the letters for a month or so.

educo-A week? That's insane. The person I talked to made it seem like they wouldn't even start looking at applications that were just turned in for a week. Which program are you saying is intensive since there's more than one...

babidoll, I did the fashion studies program and like i said before, I applied about 1 month before classes started, maybe that's why they gave me an answer in a week and didn't bother interviewing me. But ALL courses there are really intensive since, there are going to be classes where you are mixed with other degrees.

Also, I think since you guys are applying really early, that could be the reason that everyone is taking their time.

i have a question about the acceptance letter.

do you get a big packet, or just a normal sized letter that tells you if you got in?

^^^ I got an acceptance package. There is a letter, then there is this folder with paper work on housing, meal cards, financials etc.

I got waitlisted which was sort of a surprise because I thought I would just get rejected. I contacted them about the waitlist and they said they would tell me in a couple weeks. That couple weeks ends soon so you'll hopefully find out around now. I beleive colleges have until April 1st to tell you if you got in or not.

Call them. Their administration is really horrible/unorganized. I got in for photography. The letter was dated 2/29 and I got it yesterday or sometime within the last week (I was in NYC, woohooo!)

^if I don't hear back from them by the end of the week i will... all of my friends have heard back so its just weird. i applied for photo too.

Yeah, you should be hearing back this week. Otherise call, or even e-mail them. Whenever I e-mail them I get a pretty fast response.

Oh I totally agree with the administration being extremely unorganized..they lost my transcript and when I went for the interview (4 weeks after submitting my application) my application still was not in their system so the counselor interviewing me had no information other than my test scores!!

I just got my letter on Monday (dated March 20th!) and I got into D&M with a 50% scholarship so I'm pretty sure I'm going! Is anyone else going?

^one of my friends called parsons to ask when she was going to hear back, and they told her they were 3 weeks behind?! i didnt get anything today so i'm def going to call, because i can't wait three weeks

That is odd.. my application was finally complete the 2nd week of march (had to fax my transcript since they lost it) and I found out the 20th so it only took them 2 weeks. I would call them asap so if you get in you can turn in your housing application like now so you get the housing you want! I'm worried I won't get the housing I want since I won't be able to turn it in til Monday and people turned theirs in like in February!

I completed my app. back in Feb and I have already had my interview about 3 weeks ago. I still have yet to hear anything from them and I tried calling today but their phone just rang and rang. I'm applying for their ba/bfa program.

the stress of it all is killllllling me!
