Pearl or Diamond earrings?

For me - its diamonds discreet studs or small hoops of diamonds. I certainly don't consider discrete studs, diamond bands or small pendants trashy for day-to-day wear. Pearls are charming but I prefer to see them on teens and the very young and the more mature - now I am in my thirties I avoid them as I feel they can be a bit frumpifying!

I almost always wear colored & baroque pearls, or antique seed pearls ... IMO anyway these do not have a frump factor

I wore my diamond studs alllll the time growing up. About a year ago, my mother gave me her pearl studs that actually have tiny diamonds "floating" underneath:-) A little hard to explain...they are not dangling, just sit right below the pearls. The earrings themselves still looks like studs. I think its a perfect compromise! I still go back to my diamond studs every so often, day or night.

I own both, but I tend to wear my pearl studs more often, because I think they compliment my complexion and hair colour better than diamonds. There's absolutely nothing wrong with wearing diamond earrings in the daytime, though.

I wear both, but tend to wear diamonds more because I'm lazy and diamoonds are a strong stone. You really have to be careful with pearls they are so porious.

I used to wear diamond studs daily but I pretty much wear pearl studs daily. Sometimes I'll wear silver balls. I'm looking to get a new pair of diamond studs though.

Audrey as Holly Golightly said in Breakfast at Tiffany's "Personally I think it's tacky to wear diamons before I'm forty." I'm inclined to agree.
