Known for their intense, kaleidoscope prints, designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos challenged themselves to expand their commercial side without watering down the label’s signatures for resort. “We’ve found that customers will buy a printed shirt or a skirt from us but then look somewhere else to complete the look,” said Pilotto. To solve that problem, he and De Vos worked in crisp white poplin shirts with floral lace embroideries, a slinky graphic jersey dress range and some great knit dresses that incorporated their graphic punch in a user-friendly way. Then there was the more thematic fare, inspired by Japanese Ikebana floral arrangements, which influenced the saturated colors used in prints, jacquards and floral laces on architectural tops, dresses and easy pants.
